The palace shook with a resounding boom. Lord Gemistos Bardas and his wife, Therosia Bardas, sat upright. He quickly jumped out of bed and grabbed the Kapros pistol lying on his nightstand. Keeping his gun aimed at the door, Gemistos began dressing himself, draping the long gold and red cloak around his shoulders. "You stay here!" he told his wife as he gave her his pistol.
Stepping outside his chambers, he turned to his guards, "Petrus, you're coming with me! Athanasius, you stay here and guard Therosia with your life!" He then ran down the corridor, Petrus close behind him.
They soon reached the source of the explosion, a massive hole had been blown into the side of the ballroom. A massive pod had landed right in the centre, scattering the mosaic, house guards surrounded it, Lykos rifles poised. "MY LORD, STAY BACK!" Commander Viator yelled. Gemistos frowned, the lines on his face deepening. "Is anyone hurt?" he asked the room. Everyone answered in the negative. Taking a deep breath, he approached the pod. Viator followed closely behind him, a look of discomfort on his face.
The pod was of beautiful craftsmanship inlaid with a massive golden eagle. Gemistos carefully laid a hand on it, it was warm to the touch. "My lord, look," Viator said, pointing at a latch on its side. Hesitantly, Gemistos grabbed it and pulled.
Vapor began flowing from the edges, and with a hefty tug, the two of them managed to open it completely. They both gasped, it was an infant, but ordinary it was not. The babe radiated an indescribable energy similar to their sorcerers but oh so different. Its bright golden eyes locked onto Gemistos as though it could look right through him.
"I will name you, Thynami, for I know that you will grow to be the strongest of them all."
