Chapter 250: Beacon Of Summer
At the same time as Junk and April were making love in the bedroom upstairs, September, the Halloween witch of the Autumn province was working night shifts deep below in the dungeon basement of the castle.
The scarecrow man who had been inhabiting the cornfield outside September's castle for hundreds and hundreds of years had been placed into custody. He had his little cell and, September was unfortunately forced to have him chained up in case he'd wake up and try to break free from the cell he was being kept in by destroying the iron bars. This scarecrow proved to her earlier that he was strong, so she surely had to take him seriously, otherwise, all possibilities were on the table as far as what could happen next… Everyone's safety was at risk within her castle and the region where they were.
"This doesn't make any sense… Why would he suddenly wake up and attack us like this after all these years…?" the confused witch wondered.
September was working at a table where she had a small black cauldron, and she took part in the witch experiments required for her to understand what had gone so wrong on that day with her scarecrow…
She had taken a strand of hair from the head of the scarecrow, and she was mixing it up with other ingredients she had with her such as frog's saliva, cursed carrots, and other things… In time, the mixture she had just concocted in her black cauldron was going to reveal to her everything she desperately needed to know…
…
This happened much sooner than she could ever anticipate it. The progress of our little concoction was something pretty efficient, all things considered.
"No, this can't be… Don't tell me that it's not one of the scarecrows from our region…" September whispered to herself as she realized a little too late the nature of the problem they had on their hands.
When September stood back up and finally turned out, it was already too late…
She heard the chains breaking and the iron bars of the cell being deformed at the very same time she spun around…
The scarecrow they had captured had broken free from his restraints!
The chains that were holding him down as their prisoners were in millions of little pieces all over the floor of her dungeon.
The scarecrow was freed.
He liberated himself.
"How did you…?" September couldn't believe his eyes.
"September…" the menacing scarecrow marched slowly toward her…
"I'm certain I recognized you from the field… How are you not from this region…" the wicked witch dared to ask the creature, but there was no answer this time, but he continued marching toward her, most likely meaning to attack her…
September quickly tried reaching for her scepter, but the scarecrow moved between her and it, therefore preventing her from defending herself.
Then…
The scarecrow swung at her…
"Duck!"
September swiftly heard Junk's voice on the other side of the room of this dungeon!
She listened to him and ducked as she was told to.
It was Junk who had come here to rescue her!
After he was done making love to April, he had a feeling that something was up and that September was in danger and thankfully he was right.
Voom!
A blast of wind was shot right at the scarecrow creature!
That colossal and tunnel-shaped blast of wind was shot right out of Junk's palm.
Junk's Autumn wind abilities were slowly becoming stronger, even if it had only been a few hours since he was introduced to them by his Witch Queen, which was quite fantastic, to say the least.
Thud!
The scarecrow monster was thrown backward, and his back hit one of the concrete walls in the dungeon, and he hit it hard thanks to the young knight.
"You got him!"
"I did."
"How did you manage to pull that off? You have not even gone into any kind of training for your wind abilities yet."
"I don't know what to tell you."
…
"Hold on. Look. There's something strange about him…" the Witch Queen pointed out after she turned back to the scarecrow.
Many of the pieces of his clothes were ripped off of him.
It turned out that the scarecrow was not exactly the elderly scarecrow that September thought he was. This was a different person altogether. Junk understood that much as he moved closer to her and took one glance at the look on her face.
The scarecrow slowly stood up, trembling as he did, and more of his clothes slid off of his body.
The scarecrow was not from the Autumn province, and he was no scarecrow.
Instead, something stranger and darker came out of the waste of this scarecrow costume.
"It was a guise all along," September realized.
It had been quite some time since the last time Junk, September, and April fought a guise creature.
A guise was a creature able to use a disguise ability, therefore, allowing them to morph and change into different forms.
In this case, this guise transformed into a familiar scarecrow of the Autumn province that September knew.
However, there was now surely nothing familiar about him.
"That's not the first time we fought a guise," Junk declared, visibly originally unsuspecting that they were meeting a dangerous guise once more.
"It sure ain't," the wicked witch agreed as Junk gave her his hand and helped her get back on her feet after approaching her.
Underneath the disguise, the true identity or form of the guise was finally revealed to both Junk and September…
The creature's body of a dark green color and his limbs, including his arms and legs, were both horrifyingly long and thin. The head of the creature was oversized and he had no facial features. However, he had bright marigold flower petals all around it.
The creature was a terrifying walking sunflower abomination.
He made his move to attack Junk and September as he towered over both of them.
However, right before it was too late…
Thump!
An arrow was shot right at the creature's head!
It was April's arrow!
