Chapter 253: Chapel Wisdom
The team went back to the castle one more time before they officially set off to travel to the Summer province.
"This is our last stop, I swear," September promised Junk and April.
"You said that last time about the witch village!" April reminded her.
"One second," September told her.
"Where are you going?" the knight questioned her as the witch was leading the way to a cemetery behind the castle.
This cemetery was leading up to the old chapel.
This was the place where the red zombie used to be held.
"You don't have to follow, knight."
"What are you doing?"
"September?" even April questioned her just as much as he did.
"Isn't the chapel where the zombie guy was kept?"
"..." September didn't bother to answer that one.
Creak! Creak!
The two front doors were opened by the Halloween witch.
Exactly, just like Junk thought, the red undead was right there at the center of the main room of the chapel. The zombie was chained up. Multiple chains were holding him upright.
"Why am I always right?" Junk asked himself.
"..."
September stayed completely silent, as she often did during those types of moments.
"Why are we here?" he asked her, confronting her this time.
"September?" April was on Junk's side, as she naturally had no idea what was going on. She was just as confused as he was.
"Red…" September's voice was stern and strong, as well as commanding.
Then…
The eyes of the red undead opened up. He was finally awake. The only one who could wake him up was his master and owner.
"He's awake…" April murmured.
"That he is," Junk admitted.
"I thought that he was too dangerous to be woken up… I believe this was why he was left here… Abandoned and chained up…" April trembled with fear as the undead moved his arms and legs and tried breaking free from his restraints. However, the chains didn't break. There were special chains that the witch summoned to keep him as a prisoner of the Chapel of Wisdom. September held her scepter near the undead. She pointed it right at him, looking like she feared that he was going to break free from the chains or something, yet, it didn't seem like this was going to be the case, anytime soon. Was she afraid of him? So many questions were going through the knight's mind right this moment…
"This is your last chance, Red…" September gave this last opportunity to the zombie creature.
"Ugh!" the zombie grunted at her.
"His last chance for what? What do you mean, Sep?" April frowned.
"..." she didn't answer.
"This is his last chance to be on our side," so, it was Junk, the witch's knight who answered at her place, informing September of what was going on because even though the Halloween knight didn't say it out loud, he understood what this was all about by now.
"What?" April readied herself for the worse. She was ready for a battle.
Cling!
The red undead ultimately broke free from the many Halloween chains that were keeping him from escaping.
The creature freed himself.
Step! Step! Step!
The red zombie slowly stepped toward the witch before ultimately making his move and swiftly leaping toward her to attack her!
He wants to hurt September!
The knight immediately reacted by stepping in front of her, defending his Queen.
No one was going to hurt his witch.
The red zombie then decided to attack the knight instead. Well, he didn't have much choice, since Junk suddenly placed himself right in front of his Queen before he could do anything about it. The undead didn't try hurting him, to begin with, since he was right here in front of him, he wouldn't mind killing him first. Usually speaking, this would be fine, however, the knight usually had his Minotaur armor on and this was not the case today. To be exact, this had not been the case for quite some time now, and Junk would surely be missing his armor now more than ever,
I'll have to shield September without my armor!
Junk knew exactly in what kind of situation he placed himself into, and there was no going back.
Thud!
The red zombie attacked!
He reached to Junk and tried piercing a hole in his chest with his right arm.
Now, the question was if Junk was going to let him do that…
Of course, he wouldn't!
Not so fast…
Junk raised his right arm!
It was time to defend his Queen no matter what happened…
"Summon: Halloween Battle Ax!"
The battle-ax was summoned!
It was manifested right into his hands, and it was with it that he was able to shield himself and more importantly shield September from this terrifying attack.
"Junk…" September murmured.
"Junk, you saved her!" April was overjoyed that it was the case.
"Of course…" Junk grunted. There was no hesitation in his voice whatsoever.
"Thank you…" this was one of the first times that the knight ever heard his Queen thank him. It felt… Different, to say the least…
"Why us? Why the heck we came all the way here in this cursed chapel to free this goon, huh?" he had to know if there was a decent reason for it, at least.
"It's a test. Or it was one."
"A test?" April asked, confused.
"What kind of test is this?"
"I wanted to see if he could be trusted, but this is not the case, unfortunately. He's lost," the witch confirmed.
"What do you want me to do?" Junk asked her.
He might have shielded her, but that didn't mean that this was over. The red zombie was still coming for the witch. He still wished to hurt her.
Zoom!
An arrow was shot!
It was April's arrow.
The arrow was shot right in his right shoulder, buying them some more time.
April didn't hesitate a second.
"I'm about to shoot another arrow if I need to. I'm not going to let this zombie loser hurt anyone. Oh, no," April sounded scary almost.
