Magic was always a mysterious thing, it was volatile and unpredictable, even to its wielders, and this was perhaps the first and most important lesson Neveah had learnt since bonding Demevirld.
And so it was no surprise when at the end of the mage spell, Neveah found herself standing in a completely strange and unfamiliar place, alone.
It was one of two things. Xenon being a full blooded dragon had a very high resistance to magic. While Demevirld's magic could possibly have an effect on him, the magic spun by the mages may not have been as successful.
And if it was, their spell could not ensure that both Xenon and Neveah arrived at the same place, at the same time. Perhaps they had been transported to two completely different parts of the dream spell woven by the mages.
