Chapter 49 - 49 Bend The Knees

Early in the morning, before the rooster crows, the city gate of Haishi City opened, and fifty Hmagol imperial guards and three carriages began to drive out of Haishi City.

Standing at the door were Chinua, Khenbish, Geming and Wang Yong. Geming handed Chinua a bag of remaining desserts and said, "I'm sorry."

Chinua chuckled and said, "I can't accept your apology."

Geming asked, "Why not?"

Chinua smiled and said, "Because it wasn't you who wronged me." She patted Geming's left shoulder lightly. "Although there are many differences, or you might call them misunderstandings, between our two kingdoms, I still consider you a good friend. If you visit me in Hmagol with good intentions, you will always be welcome."

Geming said with a smile, "I will visit you. Maybe sooner than you think."

Chinua laughed. "I will welcome you with fermented milk," she said.

Khenbish walked up to Chinua and said, "Chinua, it's time to go."

Chinua looked up and found that the last carriage had already moved some distance away. "Well, see you again," Chinua said and jumped on the horse.

Geming said, "I will definitely come to Hmagol to visit you."

Chinua smiled and said, "See you in Hmagol then."

Geming watched Chinua and Khenbish leaving Haishi City behind and followed the last horse carriage. The gate of Haishi City swung closed. Geming turned to Wang Yong and said, "Let's go see Xin Jianping, he has some explaining to do."

"Are you out of your dumb mind," Xiyan shouted, and slapped Zhiyuan on the head with his left hand. "I told you not to mess with the Magoli during this period." He grabbed Zhiyuan's ears angrily. "Are you deaf? You will ruin everything for a prostitute!" He twisted Zhiyuan's ears. "Have you ever thought that the person who rescues the prisoners is Suo Zhi!"

"I'm sorry brother," Zhiyuan grunted in pain. "When I saw Li's body dead on the bed. I thought it was her."

Xiyan shouted, "Idiot! Even if she did it, do you have evidence or witnesses?"

Zhiyuan shook his head slightly in pain. "No, I don't," he said bitterly.

Jianping said, "Xiyan, the matter is now over. The Magoli people have left the city. Now is not the time to educate him, but to find excuses to reduce your brother's punishment."

Xiyan let go of Zhiyuan's ear and said, "Instead of letting Geming take the lead. You!" He pointed at Zhiyuan. "Go and kneel down and ask Emperor Xin to forgive you and admit your mistake. If you let Geming pass this news, Empress Yan will definitely punish you severely."

Zhiyuan nodded.

Xiyan looked at Zhiyuan, who was still standing there and staring blankly at him. "What the hell are you still waiting for?" Xiyan said shouted. "Get out of my sight!"

Zhiyuan quickly left the room and ran towards Emperor Xin's sleeping chamber.

Xiyan sighed and said, "According to Zhiyuan, our prediction is correct. Empress Yan wants Geming to marry a Magoli princess. Only in this way can Geming's position as prince be well protected."

Jianping said, "She knows that once Geming becomes relatives with the Magoli royal family, we must win the battle with the Magoli army if we want to overthrow Geming."

Xiyan said, "If that time comes, I won't be so worried. Everyone knows that the party with the larger military personnel is us, not the emperor."

By the time Geming and Wan Yong sent Chinua and others away and returned to Jianping's Mansion, the sun had already risen. Geming knew that Emperor Xin had woken up, so he decided to go see Emperor Xin. However, when he walked into Emperor Xin's courtyard, he was stopped by Mi, Empress Yan's personal maid. The maid quickly said a few words to Geming and then she left.

Wang Yong asked, "What's the matter?"

Geming said, "It seems we are a little late." He turned to Wang Yong. "Let's go see what he said."

Geming and Wang Yong walked into Emperor Xin and Empress Yan's chamber, and found Zhiyuan kneeling on the ground, crying in front of Emperor Xin and Empress Yan. Standing next to Zhiyuan is Xiyan.

"Good that you are here?" Emperor Xin said. "I really don't understand what he's talking about. All I get is that he offended your friends, which made you angry."

Geming stepped forward and said, "He didn't offend my friends, he offended our guests."

Empress Yan asked, "Which guests?"

Geming said, "Cousin Zhiyuan accused Princess Chinua of Hmagol of murder without witnesses and evidence."

Emperor Xin stood up and pointed at and said angrily, "You...accusing others without evidence are already unreasonable enough, but the princess of a kingdom... I want you to go apologize to Princess Chinua in person, now."

Geming said, "Father, there is no need. The guests from Hmagol kingdom have already left the city. I just sent them out."

Empress Yan said, "Geming, you should try your best to make them stay. Why did you send them out?"

Geming said, "Princess Chinua and the others refused to stay because her morals and dignity were trampled on. Princess Chinua is very reasonable, and she will not take this misunderstanding to her heart. She asked me to send her sincere apology to father."

Xiyan said, "Your Majesty, since Prince Geming has solved the misunderstanding between my stupid brother and all the guests, please show mercy."

Emperor Xin sighed and said, "Forget it, I won't punish him anyway. You...you should learn more from your brother. Xiyan, you have to watch him and don't let this happen again."

Xiyan said, "I understand."

Emperor Xin turned to looked at Geming and said, "You have done a good job, what reward do you want?"

Geming said, "Father, as for my reward. I hope father will allow me to enter Hmagol and propose to Princess Chinua."

"You have chosen the Hmagol Princess as your bride?" Emperor Xin asked happily.

"Yes, I have chosen Princess Chinua as my bride," Geming said.

Emperor Xin asked, "Why chose Princes Chinua specifically and not the other princess?"

Geming said, "She saved my life once."

Emperor Xin said, "Alright." He looked at the Xin brothers. "You two must also choose a bride. Strengthening our borders is what the royal family should do." He looked at the three young men. "You can go."

After Geming, and the two Xin brother had left, Empress Yan said, "Your Majesty, although Geming specifically wants to marry Princess Chinua, it can be seen that the princess is not worthy of our son. I heard that many ministers do not like her. Also, Prince Bastsaikhan has no supporters in the court. Geming is the crown prince; I want him to marry a princess who can help him."

Emperor Xin asked, "What suggestions do you have?"

Empress Yan said, "In my opinion, Princess Ankhtsetseg is more suitable for Geming. Princess Ankhtsetseg is elegant and personable, and her brother is the Northern General of Hmagol and has many supporters in the court."

Emperor Xin said, "Will Geming agree?"

Empress Yan said, "This is also a test for Geming. He must understand that as the prince and the future emperor of Tanggolia, personal interests come second. There are some things that you do not agree with, but it must be done."

Emperor Xin said, "This is a good practice for Geming."

Empress Yan said, "Your Highness, I have a headache, so I won't go to meet the guests with you."

Emperor Xin said, "You can rest." He stood up and left.

After Emperor Xin left, Mi walked in and stood in front of Empress Yan. Empress Yang said, "Send the news to Lixin that the marriage has been decided."

"Yes, Your Highness," Mi said and walked out of the bedroom chamber.

After three long days of traveling, the Magolis approached Lao-Da Pass, Taban and his soldiers were waiting for them. According to what they agreed before entering Tanggolia, Chinua and the others will return within nine days.

Taban looked up and smiled, "Welcome back Major Bair and Lieutenant Lut." He saw Chinua walking towards him, so he walked towards Chinua. "You came back intact, without Tanggolia soldiers chasing after you, so I assume your side mission was successful?"

Chinua smiled and nodded at Taban. "How is the prisoner?" She asked.

Taban chuckled and said, "He is fine. He has not spoken a word yet. By the way, your other friend has return as he refused to wait with Lieutenant Lut."

Chinua chuckled. "I heard. How is he?"

Taban smiled and said, "He's enjoying his sweet time sleeping and swimming." He jumped on his horse.

Chinua said, "Timicin, you take the others with Captain Taban to rest. I want to take the Suo family to see Suo Zhi."

Timicin nodded and said, "See you at dinner."

Chinua said, "See you at dinner." Chinua rode alongside the last carriage. After crossing Lao-Da Pass, Khenbish slowly drove the carriage to follow Chinua towards the cell.

Khenbish parked the carriage and jumped off the platform. He pulled the curtain aside, looked inside the carriage, and said, "We're here."

Hye looked at the two children and said with a smile, "Let's go see your father."

The two children nodded at Hye.

When Khenbish and Hye helped the Suo family out of the carriage, the two elders of the Suo family were still very scared and held the two children tightly close to them. Zhi slowly approached from the other side, heading towards the group of people behind Chinua and Khunbish.

As soon as the children saw Zhi, they broke away from the two elder Suo and rushed towards Zhi.

"Father!" the children shouted happily.

"Siqi! Yingzi!" Zhi ran forward and held the two children in his arms. He kissed the children on their foreheads, took their hands, walked to the two elders Suo, and knelt in front of them. "Father... Mother... I'm sorry for making you suffer."

The two elder sobbed and Wan said, "Son, you have suffered more than us, how can we blame you." She knelt down and hugged Zhi. "I'm glad you're alive."

Hye walked up to Chinua and looked at the family reunion. He said, "Remember this feeling and never forget it." He turned to look at Chinua. "There comes a time when you have to make a tough decision. If that moment comes, if you're not sure whether the decision you're about to make is right or wrong, you can revisit this feeling and the smile on their face."

Chinua stared at Hye, she understood what Hye wanted to teach her. Watching the Suo family reunited, she understood that all decisions a person makes will have good and bad consequences. "Thank you," she said with a smile.

Hye gently patted Chinua on the shoulder and said, "Kid, you still have a long way to go."

When Zhi had enough hugs with his family, he stood up and found Chinua and Hye talking not far from him. He walked up to Chinua and knelt down.

"As we promised. You saved my family, my life is yours," Zhi said.

"Get up," Chinua said, looking down at Zhi. "My men will not bow to me." She went down and helped Zhi stand up.

Drystan stood by a tree not far away, staring at the small group. He didn't dare go near Chinua and the others because he left without telling them. He smiled, feeling a little embarrassed by his action. He sighed and said, "That Magoli did keep her promise."

Mönkhbat approached Drystan with Taban and asked, "Is she worthy for you to bend your knee?"

Drystan turned to Mönkhbat and said, "Is she worthy? I don't know, but she does have the qualities of a leader like you."

Mönkhbat said, "Well, now you only have three choices: serve me, serve her, or die."

Drystan looked at Mönkhbat and smiled. "If I really had to choose one, I would rather serve under the Magoli woman, at least I don't have to kneel down every time I see her." He sneered.
