"Ethan?" Esmeralda softly called his name. He looked up at her gingerly. She took a step inside his room and added, "Did I hurt your feelings?"
"Why would you think so?" Ethan asked her. He was feeling some heavy emotions but he didn't exactly know what those emotions were. Perhaps, he knew what those emotions were but he didn't want to name them.
She walked to him and sat on the edge of the bed. Tenderly, she wrapped her arms around his back and whispered while putting her head against his shoulders, "I don't know why you are feeling bad. But I apologize if it's because of me." Taking a small pause she went on to add, "If there is something that I can do please tell me."
Ethan buried his head in her neck and didn't say anything. She let him stay like that for some time. Then, he looked up at her face. From a very close distance, he could see freckles dusting her nose and cheeks. He had an urge to trace those freckles with his fingertips as they reminded him of stardust.
