[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV
Konoha, Year 41.
...
...
Minato woke up in his bed feeling a soft breath in front of him.
When he opened his eyes, he saw Hanabi close to his face and felt a slight headache causing him some discomfort, as they had kept drinking until nightfall.
Behind him, he felt someone hugging him. Now, he was lying in bed with both Mikoto and Hanabi. Not that they had done anything besides sleep, but the memories of the previous night began to resurface as Minato tried to understand the situation.
All three of them had drunk too much the night before, and Minato's drunken memories soon began to surface in his mind.
They were all sitting in front of the tent, drinking, while the rest of the camp celebrated in their own small groups.
Minato then glanced at Mikoto, her cheeks flushed as she wore a mischievous smile—much bolder than her usually indifferent expression.
"Minato, I've decided that I'm going to sleep in your bed tonight," she said with a smile, while Minato looked at her strangely.
"We shouldn't do that," he replied, but his voice lacked confidence, as if he, too, was drunk.
"I don't care that you're trying to play it safe right now," she murmured, almost slurring her words. "It's just… I'm drunk, and you really shouldn't mess with a drunk Uchiha girl," she retorted.
Before Minato could respond, a voice interrupted them.
"Wait a minute!" Hanabi exclaimed, grabbing their attention. "If you're going to sleep in his bed, I'm going too! After all, we're a team."
"No! I'm his fiancée! We're getting married!" Mikoto complained, irritated.
Hanabi shrugged, ignoring her. "It doesn't matter. I'm going to his bed too." She simply stood up and walked toward Minato's tent. She had drunk too much and no longer had control over her actions.
"I can't let you lie in my fiancé's bed alone!!" Mikoto protested as well, getting up. She stumbled along the way but kept following Hanabi toward Minato's tent.
Minato remained standing, scratching his head, unsure of what to do in that situation.
With no choice, he left the drinks behind and followed them to his tent. When he entered, he found both girls already lying on his bed, eyes closed, each in a corner of the mattress.
He stared at them with a confused look, pondering what to do. He thought about pulling out a spare bed from one of his scrolls and searched the tent for it, but before he could move, he felt Mikoto's arm grab him.
He was surprised, as he hadn't noticed her doing that. Maybe the alcohol had dulled his Haki, making it less effective since he wasn't in danger.
"Where do you think you're going? Come to bed too," she murmured before pulling him onto the mattress.
Minato only saw his body falling in the middle of the bed, between Mikoto and Hanabi. Mikoto immediately hugged him, pressing him against her.
"Mikoto, what are you doing?" Minato heard Hanabi's voice from the other side.
Hanabi saw Mikoto holding Minato. With a jealous look, she did the same.
"Share Minato with me!" she demanded.
"Don't do that! He's my husband..."
Minato found himself caught between his two companions, who were now fighting over him, unsure of what to do.
"We can't let him escape! He's so warm!" Hanabi exclaimed.
"How about a goodnight kiss?" Mikoto suggested, her face flushed as she leaned in slowly, making a big, innocent pout.
Hanabi saw that and closed her eyes.
"I want a kiss too!" Hanabi said. "I've always liked you, Minato. I know I can't marry you, but at least give me a kiss."
Minato looked up at the ceiling, his face completely red. He was trapped between the two girls, who were clearly more intoxicated than he was.
He had no choice but to stay there with them until, eventually, they both passed out, and everyone finally went to sleep.
Minato woke up at that moment, feeling a strong headache.
The hangover hit him hard as he looked around and saw the girls still asleep. With more control over his actions, he simply used the Hiraishin, vanishing from between their arms and reappearing in a corner of the tent. He ran a hand across his forehead, visibly exhausted.
The first thing he did was take a quick bath in the river. He grabbed some clothes and disappeared again. When he returned to the tent, he found the girls already waking up, both clutching their heads in pain from the hangover.
"What a shame..." Hanabi murmured, hiding her face. She didn't have the courage to look directly at Minato.
Mikoto remained silent, her expression neutral, but her face was still red with embarrassment.
"Forget about it. I'll get ready now to finish the last preparations so we can leave the camp and finally return to Konoha," Minato said to them.
The two nodded silently, without saying anything else. Minato got dressed, putting on his Jonin vest, and headed to the main tent to finish his tasks.
Focused on his remaining duties, he reviewed reports and signed documents that had arrived from various teams. The sentinels also came by to deliver their logs.
"I see you were quite busy yesterday, Commander," said his colleague beside him, a smirk on his face.
"I don't want to talk about it," Minato replied quickly, cutting off the subject. The man shrugged and didn't bring it up again.
The rest of the day was calm. Once he finished his tasks, Minato returned to the tent, where the atmosphere between the girls was still awkward. Without saying much, he distanced himself and went to train alone in a corner of the camp.
Hanabi and Mikoto showed up shortly after, also trying to focus on training, leaving the awkwardness behind.
Over the next few days, a routine was reestablished. Minato continued to fulfill his duties as commander while training his team as usual. Things started to return to normal between them, behaving as Team 7 normally would.
The camp's teams gradually began to be dismissed as Minato received authorization from Konoha. He first released the Genin, since they were younger and eager to reunite with their families. Then, part of the Chunin was also allowed to return to the village.
With half of the camp already dismantled, Minato found himself sipping tea, waiting for someone to deliver reports. His desk was almost empty, and he had little to do, but he still couldn't abandon his post as camp commander. Many times, he simply wandered around the camp to pass the time and chatted with other ninjas.
A few days later, he sensed the presence of someone he knew very well approaching. To his surprise, he saw Tsuna entering the camp.
She immediately walked into his tent, carrying several scrolls at her waist. She had probably been officially released to return to Konoha but had come here first.
"I thought we could return to Konoha together... So, can I stay with you?" she asked right after greeting him, standing alone in front of him.
Her face was no longer as cheerful as before. The loss of her father had deeply shaken Tsuna, and Minato could see and understand that.
"Of course. Stay with Mikoto and Hanabi. I'm sure they'll help keep your mind busy," Minato said.
Tsuna nodded and went to the tent where Mikoto and Hanabi were.
That same day, after sensing her presence, Minato found Tsuna sitting by the river, near the place where he usually trained. Mikoto had mentioned that Tsuna wanted to be alone.
He approached her and asked, "How's your mother?"
Tsuna sighed deeply before answering, her eyes filled with sadness.
"Not well… as you might imagine. She can't stand the sight of blood anymore. She handed over command of the camp and the infirmaries to someone else and now only focuses on making poisons," Tsuna murmured. "But I'm worried… She's been drinking in secret."
Minato frowned, feeling the weight of Tsuna's concern. He knew that her father's death had been a severe blow. First, she lost her father, and now she was watching her mother succumb to sorrow.
"I'm sorry..." Minato said, hugging Tsuna as she cried silently in his arms.
"It feels like I'm losing everyone at the same time," she murmured. "My uncle must be depressed after losing an arm and not being able to be a shinobi anymore. I lost my father after he died on a mission. My mother is drowning in her vices... There's no one left in the Senju clan that I can call family."
Tsuna sighed, her voice heavy with sorrow. "Everyone is facing terrible consequences."
She was visibly shaken. Her gaze carried a profound sense of loss.
"I only have you, Minato. Promise me you won't lose your confidence too, no matter what happens..." Tsuna pleaded, not wanting to see Minato broken like the rest of her family. "I don't want you to lose your light as well."
"Don't worry. That will never happen. After all, this is my ninja way," Minato said with a reassuring smile.
Tsuna wiped her tears with the back of her hand and watched him.
"I know... You're so strong. You'll never lose your essence," she said in a calmer tone.
"And I don't want you to lose yours either," Minato replied. "You're my future wife. I will fight to always protect you... and I'll try to make you happy as best as I can," he said.
"Thank you..." Tsuna nodded slightly, still holding him in a hug. She felt grateful to have Minato by her side.
After that, their routine returned to normal. Tsuna began spending most of her day with Hanabi and Mikoto, while Minato finished the final preparations to dismantle the camp. Things felt lighter, and the remaining ninjas in the area started to relax. Some were grilling food, others drinking tea, but Minato had completely banned alcohol consumption to avoid any more problems.
Then came the last day. The camp was completely empty. All the tents had been dismantled and sealed into scrolls, ready to be taken back to Konoha.
"Commander, the outpost has been closed," reported the outpost leader, a fellow Nara clan member, as he approached Minato with the last squad from the outpost.
"That's good," Minato replied with a nod, thoughtful.
Camp 12 was one of the last active outposts on the border. While thousands of ninjas had already returned to their families in Konoha, only Minato's group remained, with half of the camp still intact.
"With this, we're done here. Now… let's go home. The war is over," Minato declared, letting out a sigh of relief.
Even in the last few weeks, they had patrolled the borders to ensure there were no suspicious movements from those who had signed the treaty. But everything indicated that the Stone Village was honoring the peace agreement. The war had truly come to an end.
Minato looked toward the forest, taking a deep breath before leaping forward.
"Let's go!" he exclaimed.
The remaining ninjas followed Minato, jumping from branch to branch. Mikoto, Tsuna, and Hanabi ran alongside him.
At last, they were leaving the bloody war behind, with all its pain and bitter memories. Now, the only thing that mattered was the future.
The future that meant going home.
