Chapter 5 - Rolling At Level Two

I safely arrived home, where I was going to use my Gift.

My real one.

After a long day of lying about my Gift and relying on [Movement Speed Up], it was easy to forget that [Godspeed] was just a lie I made on the fly to hide [Gacha Kingdom Building], but now it was finally time to see more of what it could do.

Like yesterday, I went through some menus and checked the information on them to see if anything had changed.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but things were the same, which I was actually a little glad about.

This Gift was already complex and vast as it was.

In any case, I made a bet today by entering the Dungeon without claiming any tickets.

I thought that I could claim and use them inside the Dungeon if I needed to, and since there was a good chance of leveling up and claiming more today, I decided to try it, and well...

It worked.

[Amount of Owned Tickets: 2]

Thanks to this bet, I claimed two Gifts, which opened a few possibilities.

I decided to put at least one of them into the [Skills Banner] to hopefully not fall behind the others, but depending on the result, I could definitely try the other two I was looking forward to, the [Companions Banner] and the [Weapons Banner].

However... The results were a little...

[Enhanced Drop Chance

An area around the user increases the drop rate of items. As a passive skill, this effect is permanently active without any cost, unless the user chooses to deactivate it.

Every sort of item that can be dropped is affected, from every source.]

This was by no means a bad skill. I think its effect is incredible, no matter how strong it may be in reality.

In a way, I was lucky to get something so useful.

It's just... Unfortunate.

This wasn't what I was looking for, but it didn't make me disappointed in this banner.

If anything, I felt like I was having a lot of luck with it.

It was a hard decision, but since the dagger I had would still be able to deal with anything on this floor while [Movement Speed Up] could fall behind, I decided to try this banner again.

[Physical Prowess

For every 5 seconds of activation, consume 1 mana point from the owner.

While this skill is active, boost the strength, speed, and defense of the user until mana runs out or the user deactivates it.

This is an active skill.]

This was also pretty good.

I'm not sure I'd put it on the same tier as the other two I had since it had a cost, but I could see it working as a trump card.

I'd just have to be very careful about it.

It was still a big problem though... Realistically, I'd only have 4 seconds of use before having to deactivate it, which is a very small and dangerous window considering the effects of Mana Depletion.

I could always increase my mana, either through training or by spending level-up points in the intelligence stat, but...

It put a wrench on the plan I had in mind for the next few levels.

Originally, I intended to put the next 3 points from reaching level 3 into strength, and then split the next 4 points to increase speed and defense, making my speed and strength equal, and giving me some wiggle room and safety.

Essentially, a balanced fighter capable of dealing good damage and taking some if needed.

Being self-sufficient like this felt like the best course, especially after today, but now, there was another stat that would be pretty good to level up as well.

Not only would more mana allow me to keep Physical Prowess up for longer, it would also allow me to roll more in the mana banners if I didn't use.

It could also unlock another banner there...

I think the biggest problem was choosing to increase the mana reserve. While it starts low, the mana reserve is fairly easy to increase.

Among the many methods, one accessible for everyone is simply using mana as much as possible.

It works a bit like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it becomes.

However, unlike strength and speed, which are hard to increase noticeably, the more your mana grows, the faster it grows.

This also means that putting a point in it early on is a good investment though...

Well, I didn't have any level-up points remaining after using them to increase my strength, and I wanted to keep trying the [Mana Banners] anyway, so I could wait and see how things developed.

Hopefully, my mana reserves would increase before I leveled up, solving the problem... for now.

In any case, before leaving the [Skills] menu behind, I tried checking the [Available Skills] to see if anything had changed about it.

It was definitely wishful thinking on my part, and I knew it, but there was always the small chance that something had changed and I'd have something else to consider when spending level-up points in the future...

However, unsurprisingly, it was the same.

Leveling up or killing monsters wasn't enough to change it, but this also made me a little more suspicious about this situation.

Sure, I didn't have many achievements before, but this... This was definitely something, right? It should count for something. Anything...

Unfortunately, this only meant bad news, but... I felt a little bit better about myself by blaming it on something other than my uneventful life.

It was a waste to keep looking at the blank menu, though, so I tried taking a look at the [Kingdom] this time.

Like before, there wasn't anything there, and the things to buy were too expensive for me to even consider them...

Although there was no harm in claiming the 2 [Kingdom Points] available for me.

Thinking about it, a single level up already had a big impact on my Gift.

The [Skills Banner] situation wasn't the best, but thanks to that second ticket, I was able to save it a little, and while the [Kingdom Points] were a little meaningless at this point, I could only giggle at the idea of one day getting a ton of skills or weapons at once through the gacha.

This confusing, overly complicated ability... It was shaping up quite nicely.

I still had the [Mana Banner] to try my luck on, and since there were a more manageable number of banners for me to look here, I decided to search a bit, and I encountered something pretty interesting.

The [Armor Banner].

While the dagger I had was enough to clear the first floor, it left me with a free hand, and if I was lucky enough to get another one, it would make me that much stronger.

But armor... Maybe I could save that point I was going to use in defense if I got something useful from this banner.

It felt like a safer choice, even if it wasn't as good, I was already doing fine on the offensive side.

Before the exhaustion of using all my mana kicked in, I confirmed what I got from the roll, but... I was a little puzzled.

It was a simple ring. Like the daggers from the other banner, nothing eye-catching about it.

It didn't look like it was cursed, blessed, or anything at all.

I guess... A ring protects your finger, so... It's kind of an armor piece?

Not really, though...

It was definitely the most disappointing result I had in the gacha so far, but just for the sake of it, I tried it on my finger before tapping out for the night.
