Yeon-hee was looking down at Beom-in with sharp eyes, her face shadowed beneath the low light of the helicopter cabin. Beom-in met her gaze, guilt etched across every line of his face.
"You were lucky we got there in time!" she shouted over the roar of the helicopter blades as they lifted into the air.
"I know," Beom-in mouthed.
Yeon-hee bent closer, catching the motion of his lips.
"You look like a badass," Beom-in said, his voice weak but full with admiration as he eyed her combat gear.
Yeon-hee chuckled under her breath. "You silly kid."
Her tone shifted, becoming sharper, more maternal. "Did you get anything out of your dumb adventure?"
Beom-in's expression changed slowly, a smug smile crawling across his bruised face. He winced as he reached into a pocket and pulled out a phone.
Yeon-hee's eyes widened.
"Gun-woo's?" she asked, disbelief clear in her voice.
Beom-in nodded. "He came a little too close for his own good."
