The grandest of plays must eventually come to an end.
Both the Guerrilla Squad and the Wehrmacht were well aware of this fact. Everything they did was ultimately an effort to ensure they could stay on stage until the final curtain, allowing the show to end in a way they desired.
Some authorities sought dominance as the sole military rulers of their regions; some aimed to benefit from all sides, dancing on several eggs at once; some simply hoped to secure their small piece of land and weather the upcoming storm; while others prepared to face the destined surge, vowing to fight to the death to preserve the small beacon of light under the dark curtain of the Empire.
For the Imperial Defense Force, they expected only one outcome—all problems and problematic individuals would vanish from this world.
To achieve this goal, the use of force was inevitable. The issue facing the Wehrmacht was "how to employ this force?"
