Striking at the enemy soldiers hiding behind buildings and cover in the darkness without the aid of visible light—is something beyond human imagination. In another world, such an act remained impossible until before the Vietnam War. Even if there were ideas for it, it was nearly inconceivable for a platoon of infantry to perform aimed shooting in the dark prior to the widespread use of air power, refinement of sighting methods, and the development of night vision technology.
