Out of respect, Kaspar refrained from his typical dismissal of the "mere Guerrilla Squad" at the start of his sigh. The gruesome scene and tangible losses forced him to reassess the previously underestimated Guerrilla Squad.

Regular forces generally looked down on guerrilla squads, and indeed, most guerrilla squads weren't much to look at. Good for striking at security forces, harassing supply lines, or even attacking village administrative offices—these tasks were virtually the limit of what guerrilla squads were capable of. The term "rabble" seemed to have been coined precisely to describe the combat capabilities of most guerrilla squads.
