Chapter 254 - Chapter 254: Debts, Missions, and Gambling

"Funan!" Accompanied by a roar, Jiraiya ran into the Hokage's office.

Funan was very upset and gritted his teeth and said: "Jiraiya, you'd better give me a good explanation, otherwise, I will let you stay in the hospital for a few months."

He paused and added in a threatening tone: "And I assure you that those who will look after you will be men who weigh more than 200 kilos."

Jiraiya shuddered and said embarrassedly: "I'm not, no, I heard that Orochimaru is back..." His voice was a little cautious.

Funan said expressionlessly: "He is back and ready to destroy Konoha. What? Do you want to provide him with some help?"

"Impossible!" Jiraiya shouted, almost offended.

Funan glanced at him, not even wanting to answer. Jiraiya, seeing her look, quickly shut his mouth.

If Orochimaru comes back, he must be ready to destroy Konoha. Otherwise, why would he come back?

Jiraiya's face was complicated, and he said: "Then what are you going to do?"

"I won't do anything. Someone has already taken over this matter, so, Orochimaru's matter has nothing to do with me."

"Someone took over? Who?" Jiraiya asked hurriedly.

Funan stared at him, his gaze sharp as a blade.

"Come on, Funan, tell me." Jiraiya insisted, his tone almost pleading. "I am a ninja of Konoha. I promise you that I will fight to protect Konoha. If Orochimaru really tries to destroy it, I will kill him with my own hands."

Funan shook his head and said helplessly: "You're an idiot. What if I tell you? Fine, fine... Tsunade. She has agreed to handle this matter personally."

Hearing Tsunade's name, Jiraiya suddenly became quiet.

Jiraiya smiled bitterly and said: "It's just like her style."

"And what's yours?" Funan replied coldly. He threw a stack of papers onto the table and added: "Here you go, Jiraiya. These are formal complaints. You've learned well, huh? Not only do you do those kinds of things, but you don't even pay. Can you be considered a human being?"

Jiraiya's old face flushed immediately.

"I, I..."

After stuttering for a long time, Jiraiya finally finished a sentence.

"I was so anxious to hear the news about Orochimaru that I forgot."

"Bullshit!" Funan sneered. "You did it on purpose. What's wrong? Did you run out of money?"

Jiraiya said embarrassedly: "My expenses have been a bit high recently."

Funan raised an eyebrow, immediately understanding. For years, Jiraiya had been in Konoha training Naruto and keeping an eye on him, the Uchiha Hokage, which meant he hadn't been out on missions.

But still, he dared to play without money? Where did he get the courage? Does he really think he wouldn't be caught and dragged through the streets as an example?

Jiraiya noticed Funan's eyes and couldn't help muttering: "It's not my fault. You made Konoha provide such high quality services..."

Funan gritted his teeth and said: "You bastard, you still have the nerve to blame me? Fine, then I'll close all those establishments. Happy?"

"No!" Jiraiya screamed and looked at Funan in horror, with pleading in his eyes.

Funan maintained his cold expression.

"Okay, I know." Jiraiya whispered. "I'll find an opportunity another day to take on a few tasks and make some money. This time, you help me pay the money first, and treat it as a loan, okay?"

Jiraiya put his hands together in supplication. "Please, don't let me separate from the young ladies."

Funan couldn't help asking: "Where's the money from Icha Icha novels? The royalties for your novels must be pretty high, right?"

Jiraiya's eyes were erratic for a while, and he said embarrassedly: "Well, lately… I forgot to write."

Funan sighed. Finally, she looked at him intently and said: "In that case, Jiraiya, I will assign you a mission. If you complete it, I will cover all your debts and, in addition, I will give you one million ryo."

"Go ahead, tell me."

Funan stood up, walked over to the window, and looked at the scenery outside. "Orochimaru is in Konoha. I have no idea what he plans to do, but it's evident that Konoha will face some degree of chaos. And right now, the Five Kage meeting is taking place. This time, they chose Konoha as the venue."

Jiraiya frowned and muttered worriedly: "I find it hard to understand... Aren't the Raikage and the others afraid that you'll capture them all at once?"

Funan shrugged. "I'm also worried about capturing them all."

Jiraiya put a hand to his forehead, exasperated.

He knew that Funan would really be able to do it.

"Don't mess around. If one of them escapes, the Shinobi World War will break out again, and it will be more intense than ever before."

"Then let none of them escape."

"Tsk." Jiraiya sneered. "Do you really think they're that naive? That they wouldn't take precautions before coming to Konoha? If that were the case, they wouldn't be Kage, but complete idiots!"

Funan said casually: "That's my problem. Your mission will be, in case of unrest in Konoha, not to hold back. Any enemy you encounter, eliminate them immediately."

"I want you to reduce the number of enemies as quickly as possible, without any consideration."

"That's it?" Jiraiya looked surprised.

Funan looked at him seriously. "Don't underestimate the mission. If Konoha becomes destabilized, you will have to act with all your strength. I don't want you to use small excuses to not fully engage in the battle."

"I understand." Jiraiya's expression also became cold. "I am a ninja of Konoha, and I will destroy all enemies of Konoha."

Funan nodded gently. "You may leave."

Jiraiya looked a little hesitant. "Don't I need to pay attention to Orochimaru and Tsunade?"

"No." Funan said casually: "They'll probably keep themselves busy with each other, unable to move forward."

Jiraiya frowned and said: "If that's the case, we're losing. Tsunade is the best medical-nin we have."

Funan smiled slightly and said: "If the situation comes to that, I will summon Katsuyu to tend to the wounded."

...

At that moment, Tsunade was walking with heavy steps through the streets of Konoha.

Looking at the lively and bustling crowd filling the streets, her lips curved slightly into a smile.

Konoha now was very comfortable for her. It was a village full of happiness!

Her grandfather's ideal village... She would never have imagined that it would be an Uchiha who would make it a reality.

Dan...

Nawaki...

It's a pity that you won't have the opportunity to witness it.

Tsunade closed her eyes, tormented by the pain of loss.

She won't let that pain happen again!

Tsunade opened her eyes suddenly, her eyes were cold and emotionless.

If Orochimaru intended to destroy this Konoha, then she herself would kill him.

Where is Orochimaru?

Tsunade walked and looked around.

Orochimaru has a technique that allows him to turn into anyone.

Then...

A gleam of light flashed in Tsunade's eyes. Her steps stopped.

In front of her was a huge wooden door with the kanji 'Bet' written in large letters.

Tsunade smiled slightly and murmured: "Because my opponent is Orochimaru, there is a great possibility that I will die in the battle. It's not too much to play a few games before I die!"

"Besides, who said that Orochimaru wouldn't hide here?"

"Yeah, that's right. Orochimaru doesn't like gambling at all, so he is most likely hiding here."

"Orochimaru, you can't run away!"

"Prepare to die!"

Tsunade rolled up her sleeves and entered the casino with a fierce look.

As soon as she walked through the door, the place erupted in a flurry of emotions.

Everyone rushed to promote it!

The big fat sheep is here!

Everyone hurry up to get the money!

...

In the Hokage's office, Anko was adjusting her clothes.

"Thank you, Hokage-sama." Her cheeks were slightly flushed.

All of Konoha was well aware of the current Hokage's particular tastes, making even such a professional act feel somewhat strange.

"I like helping others the most." Funan waved his hand and said: "About that cursed seal, I can only weaken it and reduce your pain. Removing it completely is beyond my power."

"That's already a big help." Anko replied as she caressed her neck. "Excuse me, is there any news about him?"

"You have the nerve to ask!" Funan raised his eyebrows, looked at Anko and said, "Are you crazy? You actually entered the Forest of Death alone. Even if you were to meet him, what can you do? Go die?"

Anko didn't reply, concentrating on finishing arranging her clothes.

Funan suddenly said: "Or do you intend to drag him with you to your death? Or do you simply want him to be the one to kill you?"

Anko's body trembled slightly, but she didn't say anything.

"Childish!" Funan cursed and sighed. "As a Konoha kunoichi, you don't think about how to serve the village, but instead think about death all day long. What can you gain by dying? Nothing, just a meaningless death."

Funan stared at Anko and said: "Does Konoha under my leadership make you so sad?"

"No, Konoha is good!" Anko immediately said: "The current Konoha is the best Konoha."

"Then you..."

"Hokage-sama!" Anko said with a serious expression: "I promise that I will never do such a thing again in the future."

Funan sighed softly.

"Anko, even if we have to die, we have to die for Konoha, for our home."

In his mind Funan thought that he now looked like a real Hokage.
