It felt surreal to think of the coming cataclysm as an inevitability of gravity. Weeks might as well have been seconds in astronomical terms, and the complex maths required to figure out that even some of Heaven's fragments were moving towards Ayther had stressed Kir to a mental breaking point, mixed with the certainty that he had failed to top Maledict in time.
Kordia felt this through the bond just as surely as she felt Kir's determination to save Ayther or die trying.
Even before she felt him contemplate using the fulcrum early, she knew something had to be done to ease his heart.
So in the middle of the night, she shut Kir out of her side of the bond as she prepared, the better for him to find her naked on her side of the tent before she opened her mind to him once more.
"What are you doing?" Kir asked without words as Kordia approached, her head coming to rest on his chest as her breasts pressed against his abs.
