She had been frozen all afternoon and returned to Qu Shengxia's company, dispirited and distraught. Just as Qu Shengxia was about to leave for the day, she was startled to see Meng Xi'er, with red-rimmed eyes, walk in.
"Xixi, what's happened?"
Qu Shengxia hurriedly put down her handbag and walked over to steady Meng Xi'er's slender arm. Upon touching her skin, her eyes widened with alarm, "Oh my God, you're so cold!" She noticed the unmelted snow on her body and quickly brushed it off with her hands, "Where did you run off to? I haven't seen you all afternoon?"
Meng Xi'er weakly lifted her head to look at her, her eyes bloodshot, and a forced smile appeared on her face, "Shengxia, I don't want to go home today. Can I stay at your place for the night?"
"I guess that's fine," Qu Shengxia hesitated, "but didn't your husband come to pick you up this afternoon?"
Meng Xi'er shook her head, "I don't want to see him right now."
