The very same wine that Luke and the rest had refused to drink. They had sensed something was off and avoided it entirely, but Hera and Athena had unknowingly consumed it. At the time, they seemed fine, so no one thought much of it. But now... now the drug was kicking in.
Luke's heart pounded as he turned back to Hera, his grip tightening ever so slightly. Whoever was behind this—he was going to find them. And they were going to pay.
"Luke... I feel uncomfortable," Hera whispered, her voice barely audible. Her fluttering lashes and the shimmer of unshed tears at the corners of her eyes made her look even more vulnerable.
"It's so hot..." she murmured, shifting slightly as if trying to escape the unbearable heat consuming her from within. Despite the turmoil in her body, she still tried to maintain her composure, pretending that nothing was wrong.
But Luke saw right through her.
