[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]
Third Person POV
Romania.
...
...
Snape was back in his house after using the Floo powder, ignoring all the letters. It even seemed like they had increased in number after a few hours away.
He now wore the strange ring that Esteve had given him, controlling the magic emanating from his body, making it as strong as it had been when he left Hogwarts, so as not to raise any suspicions.
"Esteve..." Snape murmured. That name certainly bothered him more than he would like, but there was nothing he could do now. Besides, he had to be thankful for the ring. He would use it for as long as necessary, but he knew there would come a time when he would control his magic well enough or wouldn't need to hide his magical power in this world anymore.
"Hooww!" Shadow appeared at that moment, landing in the middle of the room on his perch and greeting Snape again, looking worried that he might leave and disappear.
"Anyway... let's first figure out what to do while I'm not returning to Hogwarts yet. I'd rather not go back right now, but I can still get something useful out of that place while I pass as a student." Snape concluded as he left the room, heading to a chamber filled with ingredients he had preserved. Some had spoiled because he had returned much later than expected.
"This smells awful..." he commented.
He began cleaning the room with his wand, removing all the rotten items to throw them away. After a cleaning spell, the place became usable again.
With that done, he didn't start brewing potions just yet. Instead, he set up Salazar's cauldron, organizing everything to begin working the next day. He marked directly in a book what he needed to make, both for the shop and to have some extra potions on hand.
"Now I need to pick up supplies from Genini tomorrow at the shop," Snape murmured before looking at his hand, which was releasing a dark aura.
'First, I need to deal with this.'
With that, he left the chamber and went to his bedroom, lying down on the bed. Shadow followed him, perching nearby to sleep as well.
"OHHW!" The black owl let out a protesting sound.
"Atlas... I know. He's not here now, but I'll fetch him soon," Snape said, aware that he would have to return to Transylvania to find out what had happened to Atlas.
Shadow made another sound, but Snape didn't respond this time. Instead, he climbed onto the bed and sat in a lotus position.
"I'm going to meditate to control this power, so try not to distract me, Shadow," Snape instructed, and the owl fell silent.
He closed his eyes, focusing on controlling the death energy within him. He was now a fully-fledged necromancer.
'When I learned about my role in the Order, I discovered some things about the ring's power and the ancient monarch I was meant to protect… They say he was the most feared on the battlefield during the wars against the rulers. The longer the fight dragged on, and the more deaths there were, the stronger he became as he kept raising the dead.'
Snape reflected on the teachings about ancient wars from thousands of years ago, which had resulted in the destruction of countless worlds.
He remembered that his master in the Order would say that when the Shadow Monarch appeared on the battlefield, everyone trembled. With a single gesture, all the monsters and fallen soldiers would rise as his subjects, regardless of their power or species. That was why he was so feared—a being who could destroy an entire world and turn it into his army.
Snape didn't want to become like that. He didn't want to be another monarch who destroyed worlds. But he knew he had to grow stronger to combat the others when he left this world.
He continued meditating, pushing those thoughts aside. After several hours, his death energy began to wane, as he had intended. Although traces of mist were still visible emanating from his body, it would take more training to suppress it fully.
Afterward, he decided to get some sleep. He needed to prepare his things before returning to Hogwarts, which might take another week.
"Appear," Snape commanded the next morning, standing in front of his house. Twenty-two shadows materialized before him.
Among them, Igris stepped forward in front of the others, standing before Snape while the twenty-two figures—mages, archers, and knights—all knelt silently, emitting shadows from their forms.
"Well... there are twenty-two of you at the moment... and you follow my orders, no matter what?" Snape asked, curious, but he received only silence from them.
Until Igris raised his head and nodded, clearly understanding what Snape had said.
"OOOWlll!!" Shadow flew out the window at that moment, curiously watching Snape and the shadows.
"Let me see, then. Do push-ups," Snape tested, and immediately all of them got into position. Snape could see twenty-two shadows doing the exercise in front of him.
"This is good..." Snape said as he noticed some of the mages starting to tire. "It seems that each of them has their own stamina level, probably based on the strength they had before becoming shadows..." Snape concluded as he continued studying them.
"Stop," he ordered, and the shadows stopped doing push-ups and stood up.
"Now attack me," he requested.
"..."
None of them moved.
"Looks like you don't actually follow all of my commands. You lied," Snape said as Igris knelt, seemingly apologizing.
"Fine... can you fight each other if I ask?" Snape tested again, and once more, none of the shadows moved. They only stared at him.
"I see," he said at last.
"I want you all to stay and guard the house while Igris will be the only one to come with me," Snape instructed. Igris's shadow sank into the floor and merged with Snape's shadow, while the others nodded.
Snape then went to the fireplace. Using Floo powder, he stepped out onto the second floor of his shop. As he walked toward the staircase, he stopped abruptly.
"Who's here..." Snape thought, his gaze dangerous.
"You haven't had any potions for sale here for over three weeks! You call this a shop? You'd better provide potions, or I'll start tearing this place down!" a voice bellowed from below where Snape stood.
"I'm sorry... my master was finally here yesterday. He said he would make more potions soon!" Genini sounded terrified as she faced the wizard who had forcibly entered the shop.
"Listen to that. I can't believe the shop that belonged to the Black family was sold to someone so incompetent. You should sell it off already, instead of running out of potions!" the man said disdainfully.
"Wait... isn't this a chance to find out who bought this shop?" Another man stood beside him, dressed elegantly like the first. Both were nobles.
"That would be very useful. The Nott family would be very interested to know who stole the shop from them and left the Black family silent about it," he agreed with his companion and turned back to the terrified house-elf.
"Listen here, you idiot. Tell us who your master is, and we won't hurt you. Maybe we won't even destroy the shop. How about that?" he said with a sadistic smile, while Genini looked more and more terrified.
"No, please! I beg you, I can't say who my master is! Otherwise, Genini will be sacrificed in a demonic ritual, and her soul will be fed upon!!" she screamed, even more horrified by the thought than by the two wizards in front of her.
Both wizards exchanged stunned glances at the house-elf's words.
'What kind of master does she have? Is this really a good idea?' They both had the same thought upon hearing it. After all, there were few things that macabre in the wizarding world.
'What the hell... why does she keep thinking I'm going to do that to her...' Upstairs, Snape was slightly frustrated. This wasn't the first time he had heard something like that from his house-elf. After a sigh, he glanced at his shadow.
"Let's test her. Take care of them," Snape ordered, and his shadow began moving, sliding down to the floor below.
"Well... what should we do... She clearly won't talk. And if this guy really can do something like that, can we handle it?" the companion asked.
"Maybe we should—"
He didn't even finish his sentence before his companion suddenly raised a hand to the side, his face stunned.
Genini and the last wizard looked in that direction, their faces mirroring the first man's shock as they all saw a knight made of shadows approaching. He held a sword in his hand, and his cape fluttered behind him.
"What is that?!" The first man quickly raised his wand, terrified by the dark figure.
But Igris raised his hand, and using telekinesis, he simply made the wand fly out of the wizard's hand. The man stood frozen, unable to believe what was happening.
"My wand!" he exclaimed, watching the object fall to the floor. His companion pulled out his own wand, but Igris swiftly advanced, grabbing the man's face with one hand and slamming him to the floor with force. The sound of the floorboards cracking echoed through the room as the man hit the ground.
The other wizard took a step back, horrified, but Igris effortlessly pressed his sword to the man's neck.
"Please... don't kill me! I'm sorry!!" the man begged, terrified. His companion lay on the floor with blood trickling from his head, his wand also discarded nearby.
"AHHH!!" Genini screamed and ran off, disappearing to hide from the shadow monster.
The man with the sword at his throat trembled with fear. He barely had time to react before Igris withdrew his sword and punched him in the stomach. The wizard doubled over, spitting out saliva as he crashed into the wall near the door before collapsing, unconscious. Igris, possessing the same strength as Snape at level 50, made it look easy.
"I'm going to die... Genini is going to die!" Genini whispered, trembling in terror behind the counter.
"Well done!" A round of applause echoed as Snape praised Igris for his efficiency and how quickly he had dealt with the troublemakers.
The shadow knight approached his king, kneeling before him and presenting the two wands as spoils of battle.
"We don't want their wands. Just take the two of them and throw them outside with their wands," Snape ordered at last.
Igris nodded and carried out the task without hesitation.
"Genini, relax. He's my knight. He serves me," Snape said as he approached the house-elf, who was crouched with her hands over her head, shaking.
"M-Master..." she murmured, looking up at Snape with terror in her eyes. "Master has a servant of shadows... that means... Master is the Dark Lord!!!" she shrieked, her fear escalating as she crouched even lower, covering her head with her hands, convinced Snape would kill her right there.
"Where do you get these ideas, hmm?" Snape sighed and walked toward the basement, leaving Genini behind. He wanted to check the ingredients that had been sent by the Greengrass family.
Meanwhile, Igris dragged both unconscious men outside, tossing them onto the street like nothing more than garbage. The sight of two beaten wizards crashing to the ground with their wands scattered near them startled the passersby.
"What's going on?! Call the Aurors! Someone's been attacked!!" someone shouted from the growing crowd that gathered to see the two injured men lying there. None of them had seen Igris at the door when he threw the wizards out.
Igris returned inside as Snape finished organizing everything he needed in his inventory. Luckily, preservation charms had been placed on the items; otherwise, they would have all gone bad by now.
"I think that's enough for now," Snape said. "I want you to stay here and protect her. Understood?"
Igris nodded without hesitation.
"Genini, you'll stay here with him. Igris will protect you, so don't panic," Snape instructed, leaving the terrified house-elf behind as he climbed the stairs to the second floor. He used Floo powder to return to his house in a remote area of England.
Snape knew he'd have to spend the next week restocking his shop while training to ensure no one else would see his dark aura again.
