As if Sophia had picked up on the tension in the room, she was quick with her distribution of plates in front of them, replacing the empty ones and leaving at the same speed she had completed her work in.
There was nothing in his mind. Earlier, as a distraction, he had watched as Sophia worked. His eyes tracking every movement, her hands made. Now, she was gone, and there was nothing but silence and Killian left.
It was overpowering, especially when he felt nothing and his mind was completely blank which made the atmosphere dense, thicker than it was supposed to be making it difficult for him to breathe.
He sneaked a look towards Killian. He was cutting into his food with no pressure or any kind of stress. It was like none of the feelings that Brandon was feeling was felt by him.
But it was not all in his head. These were existing feelings that were validated by the situation that he was in. Just because he did not feel them did not invalidate them.
