I still feel heavily sedated and the only sense working for me is my hearing. I can hear beeping of the monitor, as I feel the contents of a drip flow into my bloodstream. The anesthesia hadn't worn off yet so I couldn't talk nor move. All I could do was listen. After a minute, I heard footsteps walk into the room. The person who walked in sat on the chair beside me and I could distantly feel him caress my face.
"I will kill him for touching my wife. I swear. " He whispered, and kissed my forehead, then he left. Well I guess there is always a first time for everything, last time I checked, after what I did to him, Rafael has hated me with all he had. And I am pretty sure if I was awake, he wouldn't have even looked at me.
Some minutes passed and the anesthesia finally wore out and I slowly regained my senses. I could see Nurse Claire adjusting my IV line.
"So you're awake willows. That is wonderful. I heard about what you did. That was good work, but next time don't be silly enough to jump in front of a bullet again, you understand me?" She said time in a friendly manner
"Yes Nurse. I understand." I respond weakly.
"Good now hurry up and leave this bed, there a lot of patients waiting for it." She said as she walked away giggling. I giggle back. Just then, Dr Lorcan walked in.
"Claire says you can be discharged. I don't want you getting any nasocomial infections." He says coldly. No greeting, nothing.
"Im surprised you care. " I respond weakly.
"You saved my life. It's the least I could do to repay that " he responded. "Now please let me help you."
I nod. I then sit up, and the sudden movement made my vision blurred for a moment. He flinched as if he wanted to come to me, until I grabbed the rails and slowly and stood up. He then brought me my wheelchair, and took me to the bathroom door. I walked inside to change.
As I removed my hospital gown, I looked at the place where I was supposedly shot. What was weird was that that was the only thing I remembered. That I was shot. I didn't remember anything before since the part where the patient was threatening another patient with a knife. I don't remember much from there. As I look at my wounds, they slowly start to heal.
I walk out of the bathroom and I fall into my wheelchair tiredly, almost hurting my head in the process, but Lorcan holds my head in place.
"Be careful Jasmine." He says, almost pissed.
"I'm sorry." I respond in guilt.
He sighs heavily as he takes me outside.
"How did I get shot?" I ask him casually as he was pushing me. Right then, he clenched his fist in anger, and his entire aura changed.
Before he could answer, all my coworkers came to celebrate me.
"Willows, how you saved Dr. Locan was amazing. You saved this entire hospital, literally turned into superwoman." One of them said to me.
I just laughed as they handed me a cake.
"Thank you all so much. But right now she needs rest so if you don't mind, I would love to take her home." Dr Lorcan said to them.
They all agreed and congratulated me one last time, before Lorcan took me out. I went to open the back seat to his car, but he took me to the front passenger seat, on my wheelchair. He then opened for me and helped me inside the car. He then put the wheelchair in the back and walked in.
"Put on your seatbelt Jasmine" he said after noticing I hadn't.
I started to struggle to put the belt on as I had not yet regained full motor control.
Lorcan then moved to my side to lock the belt for me.
"It's okay Dr. Lorcan, I can do it by myself." I respond trying to avoid him.
"Don't be stubborn Jasmine, it's something small." He says.
"Then we can leave it be. I don't have to put it on. Last time I checked you were a good driver." I responded.
"Jasmine, that wasn't a request." He almost growled.
I tried to push him aside, but since I was weak, he pinned my hands to my thighs with his hands effortlessly.
As our bodies got closer, his spearmint breath once again filled the air I breathed. I could feel my heart racing, and I tried to control the rising and falling of my chest. But I felt something else. Lorcan was clenching on to my thigh, where he had pinned my hands. He was staring at me with his dark gray eyes, and they somehow darkened. I could feel his breaths become heavier and I could hear his heart pounding against his chest. He was almost trembling as if he was holding back something. As we got closer, he clenched tighter, then whispered to me.
"It's an order from your husband."
With that he released my hands and put the seatbelt around me. He then started driving.
After a while if silence, I began to think hard about what had happened, but everything was a blur. I began to get restless.
"What's the matter?" Lorcan asked me.
"I want to know who shot me Lorcan. What happened?" I said.
He stopped the car and turned to look at me.
"For heavens sake Jasmine, stop calling me that already, were out of the hospital. Also, it best you don't recall what happened." He said.
"But Rafael, I have a right to know, don't I?" I ask almost impatient.
"Whoever hurt you will never do so again. That is all you need to know. " He responded.
"What about all that stuff the people were saying about being a superwoman, and protecting you?" I asked.
All of a sudden, he steered the car in the other direction, and we were heading off to a place I didn't know.
"Where are you taking me?" I ask him.
"You're life and death lies in my hands. Not even heaven or hell have any right on you." His tone had changed. It was filled with possession, obsession and rage.
"How dare he touch my wife." He says, stopping the car at his old church. There he opened the door for me, and I walked shakily inside as he took my arm is his. I've never seen him like this.
He had let a certain spirit take over him. As I walked into the church, I remembered how we first met. I was running away from some bandits, when I fell into his arms.
"Child, is everything okay?" He asked me in a calm voice. Before I could explain anything, we heard footsteps rushing toward the church so he took me to a secret chamber of the church to hide. I was snapped back to reality by the sound of muffled screams. When I looked at the direction of where the sound was coming from, I was horrified. My legs gave away and I fell to my knees, hands on my mouth. No it can't be real. I must be dreaming.
"Rafael what have you done?" I stutter in shock.
