"Baba Yaga Sergeant is brewing a magic potion." The old man in the tent said, as he was really stirring a pot of mysterious liquid.
Wang Zhong: "What is this?"
"Plant resin, used to coat my shoes to prevent them from rotting in water." Baba Yaga picked up a brush, dipped it in the resin, and started to apply it to the "shoes".
Wang Zhong looked at the "shoes" and felt they were similar to something he had seen in Japanese ninja cartoons; ninjas used such things to walk on water.
"Can you walk on water with this?" Wang Zhong asked.
"Hahaha, how could that be possible," Baba Yaga burst into hearty laughter, "But this can prevent you from sinking into the mud, you see? It increases the surface area that touches the ground, distributing the pressure like the tracks of a tank. Of course, there is a technique to using these; an untrained person would slip and fall into the swamp after just a few steps and be swallowed by the marsh."
