"Delilah has been found!" Jessica announced in a loud voice as she got off the phone with Hunter, who was still in the ambulance taking Delilah to the hospital.
Immediately everyone in the room rose up, heaving sighs of relief and prayer of thanks as they gathered around Jessica.
"They've gotten the culprit and they're on the way to the hospital," Jessica told them in a rush, eager to get out of there to go see her sister.
A couple of minutes later she was seated in Damon's car as he drove her and her father to his hospital where they were headed with Delilah.
The car ride was tense and mostly filled with silent. Each of them heaved a sigh occasionally, the weight of their relief hanging in the air.
Emily's birthday party which was supposed to hold the next day had been canceled as a result of Delilah's disappearance.
Jessica stared out the window, her fingers clenched together in her lap. Her heart pounded with anxiety as she tried to process everything.
