Samantha stood with her mates, arms crossed, as Orion paced in front of them like a particularly annoyed drill instructor.
"This time, we focus on teamwork," he announced. "I know that Marcus, Kai, and Samantha have fought together before, but there have been changes—and I don't just mean Callum being the dramatic new addition."
"I take offense to that," Callum muttered.
"You take offense to everything," Kai shot back.
Samantha sighed. "Can we focus?"
Orion continued as if no one had spoken. "Samantha, you're no longer a vampire; you're a hybrid. Your strengths and weaknesses have changed. And, of course, you're pregnant, which means there are certain limitations you can't ignore."
She hated when people said that, even if it was true.
Samantha had learned to be wary of Orion's training sessions. They never went the way anyone expected—especially not in a way that involved comfort or predictability. But she'd also learned that arguing with him was pointless.
