I stared at them. I shook my head. "I already told you two that I had someone I was training up to replacement me in the future in managing the Redclaw pack. It's better that it be someone that is accustomed to being around them and they know him and be strong and capable to lead." I said.
Erica snarled at me. "That is not what we are concerned with. You are thinking of making that boy a threat to your position and putting him in the position as your adopted son and heir. You have plenty of sons here to select among your own people." She said.
I shook my head. "I don't have any sons. None of the males here are strong enough to lead the pack now. You both have grandchildren and generations of your people here. The nearest one to really look promising is Martin but he wants no part of being an alpha and to his own estimation he isn't strong enough. So that will have to the next generation that are children now. I'll find my replacement among them and train him up right." I said.
