Suxin woke up once in the middle, and Arthur asked her what she wanted to eat. She shook her head, saying she wasn't hungry, but then she went alone to the bathroom and washed for a full two hours before coming out, her entire body's skin turning red from the washing.
After bathing, she changed into a fresh nightgown and then hid under the covers again, covering herself up so her head was completely out of sight.
Arthur had been staying in the next room, and since Suxin woke up, he had been sent out. She said she was fine and didn't need anyone with her.
By midnight, Arthur couldn't rest easy and opened Suxin's bedroom door. Not wanting to startle her, Arthur didn't even turn on the lights. As he approached, he saw Suxin's head tucked into the blanket, and her whole body curled up tightly, as if she were very cold.
