Letting the guest into the room with some mirth, I watch as they take some simple steps into the room and then sit exactly where Rykard is.
It does something weird when they overlap since I wasn't expecting them to just grow a long Red braided beard before Rykard got out of the seat.
"Well regardless I was expecting a guest during the break but to be honest I thought it would be one of the people still in the tournament and not one I kicked out personally, So I have to ask Why the visit Joey."
I come over to him and sit in the chair across a side table from him.
"Yeah, I know this is weird, but I have to get the details about those weird cards you spat up and gave to my sister, your whole shtick is just random mumbo jumbo, and I need to look out for her."
I channel my inner Rykard and arch my hands together as if in contemplation before speaking.
"To be honest, I have some guesses but none of them are great news, she might want to be wary of black abyss-like wormholes unless something grabs her from it."
His face at my words can only be described as Wrathful but my posture breaks after a few seconds as I laugh.
He stands up and glares at me and yells "Why are you laughing, nutcase! This is my sister were talking about here It's not a laughing matter."
I wave a hand to indicate for him to sit back down and speak "The thing is though even in the worst-case scenario I can think of involving the cards, it's not really a problem."
At this Joey's rage simmers but it's still alight he sits back down but still glares at me, "Explain."
I lean against my curled hand and look at Joey with a complex expression before raising my other hand and using my fingers as visual aids. "Well from my understanding there should be 3 situations, the first is that the cards remain inert in some way, I would assume you would prefer that but too bad that's not happening since trying to contain them is impossible.
The Second situation is that the cards affect her slightly, in this case, they affect her and the world around her slightly, this is the middle road since those cards are just the remains of a great power, not the core, the most you want is for it to have just have a single card look like her."
The last Situation is the one that while unlikely is the one I feel is gonna happen at some point, but for it, I just have to ask a simple question How scrappy is Serenity."
My question catches Joey out of his anger, but he responds quickly for someone who is probably on the spectrum. "She's a Wheeler, Scrappy is in our Blood."
"Good because the last scenario is bad, so bad that I wish she never had to experience it."
This reignites his anger and he stands up "What do you mean by that, if those cards are gonna harm her, I'm gonna rip them up right now."
At this I look at him with sympathy, "You don't have to worry really if my guess is right even in the worst-case scenario, by the end of it she would be fine in body."
I'm surprised that even in his anger Joey catches the nuance of the statement I just said. "They're gonna mess with her head ?!"
I quirk my eyebrows at his comment and sigh before looking away from him and thinking before looking back to him, "Well If my idea is right, there's a way to mitigate any damage, if you're willing to trust me, there's one thing I you can give her."
He hears this and his expression is alleviated slightly, "So what is this safeguard item I need to give her."
I get up from my seat and step in front of him and simply press a single finger towards his chest, more specifically his Pendant.
"Simple, you have to just give her that then tell her no matter what happens you love her, the best thing you can do is give her an anchor to make it so regardless of what she has to do to survive she won't lose her way and come back."
The Rage on his face is total as I blatantly told him the truth if the worst case happens, Hell he gets up and goes for a swing at me, which I allow to hit me in the face.
After the punch I spit out a tooth onto the floor of the cabin with a spot of blood, I rub my jaw with my hand and take a step back, the look on Joey's face is still of anger but before he goes for the next hit I speak.
"Yeah, I deserved that one, but just that one, I knew you had a backbone, and you needed the closure so go and help your sister before fate acts like the bitch she is."
My words seemed to go in one ear and out the other with him but when I mentioned how his sister could be in danger his rage towards me took a sidestep as he charges out of the room in a desperate attempt to save his sister.
Once he's gone from the room, I look at the royals in the room and sigh before returning to the seat.
Ranni is the first to speak, "What was that all about? You make it sound like that girl is to be ripped apart mentally, what could be the worst-case scenario"
I think for a second and speak, 'I don't know if you were out of the maelstrom yet at the first moments, I was in this world but one critical thing I told Miquella about is that in the past my connection to the lands between was akin to a game using a puppet under my control to become the Elden Lord.
If you remember my speech about their world involving the rekindling of the first flame, it's a similar connection to that world but while there's only one connection to the lands between, there's 3 to their world at different points in time. The first linking, the Drangleic era where the shards of Manus tried to take over, and the last Linking.
In two of those the only way the game works is that the user is afflicted by a curse which consumes your memories if you die turning you into a shambling Husk if you give up hope."
At my words it dawns on both Ranni and Rykard the reason for my instruction.
"From now on, I can't even interfere at this point since fate is annoying like that, Honestly I wish I could give her some hints or the locations of critical things but since I don't know what point she's gonna enter at its pointless since if she dies, she might lose critical information since some of it shouldn't get out."
Seeing the irony of wanting to help but helping would harm her instead Rykard retakes his seat before with a voice full of mirth asks, "If you could tell her one thing from each time point what you would then?"
At this Question, I lean back in my chair before counting them out. "For the first link warning about the Great Hollow and Ash Lake trap, it's a location trap that happens if you don't have an item which allows you to teleport, without the item it requires 10 times the effort to get out of the trap.
For the Drangleic era a Warning about the Shrine of Amana, Homing Magical Snipers with little to no cover and hidden ledges under dark water was bullshit, I just wished it wasn't mandatory to pass through to get access to the remains of the King of Drangleic.
For the Last Linking, it's no contest it's the Jailers of Irithyll dungeon, they have these lanterns which just sap the life out of you constantly, they can't kill you, but they make it so your body is so fragile that even a light breeze would shatter all of your bones, all while in a maze of prison cells and tunnels."
Ranni and Rykard are both intrigued and weary of the scenarios I talked about, maybe not the first one since I didn't mention the mushroom men who just punch you into a paste with a single strike, but they wouldn't believe me if I mentioned those.
At that point, my door rings again indicating another visitor to my room. I get up and walk towards the door but as I do I look towards a lamp over the nightstand and the Amber eye visible under the slightly skewed Lampshade.
I nod to it as it fades in the light of the lamp and go to open the door, on the other side is one person I was expecting.
"Get in here you blighter, did you pocket the good stuff as we discussed." I usher Patches in with a Smirk as he presents a wine bottle that's possibly from Seto's stash.
