Red A acts like he doesn't care about anything, but he still cares about Rin.
He denied the part of himself that yearned to be a hero, but he still admired Kiritsugu who saved him from the fire.
This can be seen from the scene where he bids farewell to Rin at the end of the UBW line. The essence of Red A is still that of the passionate young man who aspires to become a partner of justice.
