It can not be said that the Sima were ethnically similar. They all had their unique ethnicities stripped from them in the sense that they no longer remembered their traditions or heritages, their features had been altered with some having physical traits of different species added to their DNA, and they only remembered the primary language of Trannisa. More accurately they were only taught Trannisa's common language.
The Sima decided to develop their own cultural identity and base their ethnic identity on their similarities in experiences. They developed unique produce and animal products with the help of their Great Ones. With these unique products they developed new cuisine, also with the teachings of their Great Ones.
They decided to base their cultural identity on newly developed cuisine, customs, and language.
For the Simas they had no identity before being Simas. They were Simas, they always had been and always would be.
