"Thank you for saving Miss Lilith. She is extremely grateful for your service!" Sir Sparkleton chirped proudly, his square metallic body puffing with importance as he stood beside the bed like a loyal tin soldier.
Lilith, now awake and cleaned up, leaned against the headboard, dressed in fresh clothes lent by Jack's mother. Her wet hair was loosely tied, and the exhaustion had faded slightly from her eyes. She looked softer now… more human than usual.
She gave a faint smile. "Thank you," she said gently, her voice calm. Just that small curve of her lips made her usually sharp, queen-like features melt into something beautiful and warm.
Jack's mother, sitting at the edge of the bed, looked at her with concern and kindness. "It's alright, child! But you never told me...where are you from? Do you want to call your family? And this robot—what exactly is he?"
She was speaking fast, the worry in her motherly tone making her questions tumble out in one breath.
