Barely eight, Angel sat hurdled at a corner in her room, bawling her eyes out.
She cried out for her mother to come take her away, but all she got in return were insults and threats.
"I won't let you walk down the same path your whore of a mother did, Belle! You're going to be a good girl, with good values. Something your pretentious mother could never achieve in her filthy life. If I have to beat these morals into you myself, I will, you know why?"
Her tears were the response he needed. He drew closer to her, and bent so they were levelled.
"Because I deserve a daughter who rewards the effort I'll have to put into raising her now that her useless mother is gone. You're going to tell me about the diamonds, belle. Sooner or later, you will, I promise."
