Chapter 52 - THE TRADER'S ITEMS

Sorry Readers, it seems I posted wrong chapter previously. 😅😅

----

The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife.

Nova had made sure everyone had a drink and some snacks, but even as they all sat around the living room, the atmosphere felt like a battlefield disguised as a casual gathering.

Emma sat with effortless grace, legs crossed, sipping her cola like it was fine wine. Wanda, seated across from her, held her own drink but hadn't taken a sip. Her green eyes were sharp, watching Emma like a predator sizing up another apex hunter.

Nova leaned back, watching the silent war unfold. He wasn't the only one.

Gwen and MJ exchanged amused glances, while Felicia smirked, enjoying the show. Pietro, on the other hand, looked like he was trying very hard not to roll his eyes.

Finally, Emma broke the silence, her voice smooth as silk. "You're staring, Wanda. If you have something to say, don't hold back."

Wanda's lips pressed into a thin smile. "I was just wondering what brings the White Queen here. Surely you're not in the habit of making social visits?"

Emma took a slow sip of her drink, her smirk never fading. "Oh, you wound me. Can't a woman simply drop by for a friendly chat?"

Pietro scoffed. "Yeah, because you're so well-known for your friendly chats."

Emma chuckled. "Touché." She set her drink down and tilted her head at Wanda. "But if you must know, I'm here because I was invited."

Wanda arched a brow. "By who?"

Emma's gaze flickered to Nova, and the smirk on her lips became just a bit more mischievous.

Wanda's eyes narrowed slightly. "Of course."

Nova, sensing the storm brewing, decided to step in. "Alright, alright. Let's all take a deep breath. Snacks, cola, and a little bit of peace, yeah?" He shot a grin at Pietro. "Even you, speedy."

Pietro huffed but grabbed another handful of chips. "Fine. But if they start throwing mind bullets at each other, I'm out."

Emma let out a soft chuckle, her gaze flickering toward Nova. "Funny thing about that," she mused, swirling her drink in her hand. "I can't seem to read his mind at all."

That got everyone's attention.

Wanda's eyes sharpened, and even Pietro looked mildly intrigued. Felicia, Gwen, and MJ exchanged glances, while Nova simply took a slow sip of his cola, keeping his expression unreadable.

Internally, though?

Huh.

That was interesting. He hadn't really thought about it before, but now that Emma mentioned it, it made sense. Was it his system shielding him? Or was it the Omnitrix? Maybe both? Either way, he wasn't about to complain.

Emma leaned forward slightly, studying him with those piercing blue eyes. "And that makes you even more interesting."

Nova smirked, setting his drink down. "Careful, Emma. Keep talking like that, and I might think you're developing a crush."

Emma's lips curled into an amused smile. "Oh, please. If I were interested, you wouldn't have to wonder."

Felicia chuckled. "Damn, she's got a point."

Gwen nudged MJ. "You think Nova's sweating yet?"

MJ smirked. "Nah, if anything, he's enjoying this way too much."

Nova just grinned, leaning back in his seat. Yeah, this was definitely going to be fun.

Pietro, popping another chip into his mouth, let out a snort. "I don't know what's worse—the fact that Nova's actually keeping up with Emma or that he likes whatever game she's playing."

Wanda shook her head, sighing. "Typical. Drop a bunch of powerful people into one room, and instead of a serious discussion, it turns into a battle of egos and flirtation."

Emma smirked at her. "Oh, Wanda, darling, if you ever decide to stop brooding, you might find it's quite fun."

Wanda rolled her eyes. "I'll pass."

Nova chuckled, raising his glass. "To good company, then?"

Pietro shrugged. "Sure, whatever keeps you entertained."

Wanda sighed but took a sip of her drink. "Let's just hope this doesn't get out of hand."

Nova grinned. Oh, it absolutely will.

Emma casually glanced at Pietro first, then Wanda, before finally settling her sharp gaze on Nova. Her expression was unreadable, but there was an undeniable weight behind her words as she spoke.

"So… if you two are here," she mused, tapping a perfectly manicured nail against her glass, "then that means he is the Omega-rank mutant who awakened recently."

The air in the room shifted, the playful banter from moments ago fading into something heavier.

Wanda's grip on her drink tightened slightly, while Pietro—who had been lazily munching on chips—actually paused mid-bite.

Nova, however, didn't flinch. He simply smirked, tilting his head. "Well, when you say it like that, you make me sound important."

Emma's lips curved slightly. "Oh, you are important. Omega-rank mutants don't just pop up every day." Her gaze flickered toward Wanda. "No wonder Magneto sent you two."

Wanda's expression remained neutral, but there was a brief flicker of something in her eyes. "We were just as curious as you."

Pietro leaned back, crossing his arms with a smirk. "He was just about to show off and prove his ability before a certain someone rang the doorbell."

His gaze flicked toward Gwen, MJ, and Felicia, who all looked far too amused by the situation.

Emma chuckled. "Yeah, perfect timing, huh?"

Nova shrugged," Well my Omega rank mutant ability is to trade with people across the multiverse." He finished looking at Gwen, MJ and Felicia, who raised their eyebrows.

Emma's gaze flicked between Nova and the three women, her sharp mind picking up on the subtle exchange. She swirled her drink lazily before speaking, amusement lacing her tone. "Judging by their expressions, I take it they already knew?"

Gwen smirked, casually crossing her legs. "Oh yeah, he might have mentioned it."

MJ leaned back, resting an arm along the couch. "But you know Nova—he likes to be dramatic about it."

Felicia grinned, tapping her fingers against her glass. "And mysterious. Can't forget that part."

Nova maintained his easygoing smirk, though internally, he was glad they were playing along. They knew the truth—his actual ability wasn't just trading across the multiverse; it was granting wishes of others. But that wasn't something he planned on revealing to Emma, Wanda, or Pietro, not yet atleast.

Pietro scoffed, leaning forward with an interested look. "Alright then, show us something. If you really can trade across universes, let's see it."

Wanda, however, was more measured. She studied Nova carefully, her green eyes thoughtful. "You claim you can trade… but trade with who exactly? And for what?"

Emma leaned in slightly, her usual confidence unwavering. "More importantly… what have you already traded for?"

The weight of their attention settled on him, but Nova only chuckled, reaching for his drink. "You're all acting like I'm some kind of interdimensional arms dealer." He took a slow sip, letting the tension build just a little before flashing them a cocky grin. "Let's just say… I have my ways."

Pietro rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, that's cute and all, but if you're really Omega-level, I wanna see something cool."

Nova tilted his head, pretending to think. "Something cool, huh?" His fingers casually tapped against the armrest. "Well, let's just say… I might have something very interesting for you all, it's the things I traded with my first customer."

Emma's eyes gleamed with interest. "Your first customer, hmm? Now that is interesting."

Felicia smirked. "And here I thought we were special."

Gwen chuckled. "Yeah, Nova. You didn't even take us as your first clients? I'm hurt."

MJ leaned forward, resting her chin on her hand. "So, what did you get? Or more importantly, who did you trade with?"

Nova grinned, enjoying the attention. "Now, now, let's not rush. Some things are best revealed with a little suspense."

Pietro scoffed. "Oh, come on, man. You're an Omega-rank mutant claiming you can trade across the multiverse, and now you're teasing us with a big reveal? Either show us or admit you're bluffing."

Wanda crossed her arms, her gaze steady. "You have our attention, but you're dodging. Why?"

Emma tapped a manicured nail against her glass. "Indeed. If this is supposed to impress us, I'd love to see just how valuable your trades really are."

Nova chuckled inwardly.

Suddenly, a holographic screen flickered into existence in front of Nova, its translucent glow casting a soft light across the room. The unexpected display made everyone pause, their eyes locking onto the floating interface.

Without missing a beat, Nova casually tapped a few times on the screen, the motion smooth and practiced. The display responded instantly, expanding as rows upon rows of items and strange symbols filled the air before them.

Wanda's eyes narrowed slightly, her fingers twitching as if resisting the urge to reach out. Pietro leaned forward, brow raised. "Okay… that's not something you see every day."

Emma tilted her head, studying the interface with an appraising gaze. "Hard-light projection? No visible source? That's very advanced."

Felicia smirked. "And here I thought your biggest secret was being a shameless flirt."

Gwen crossed her arms, eyes scanning the list. "Wait… is this an actual marketplace?"

MJ let out a low whistle. "Damn. There's everything here."

Looking at the list, Nova raised his eyebrows slightly. Huh. The prices had all increased by exactly 10% from their original values.

The system did this on its own… Was this some kind of built-in rule? Buy at 10% lower and sell at full price? That would mean he always had a margin of profit, no matter what.

Or maybe… it wasn't just a simple markup. What if this was proof that he was trading across realities? If these items were originally bought in another world, the system could be adjusting for interdimensional exchange rates.

So… is it just economics, or something deeper?

He didn't react outwardly, keeping his expression neutral. Let them keep guessing. He'd figure this out later.
