Chapter 22 - This world needs more therapists

I head to the Psych building, stopping by my house to drop off some of my personal belongings as well as putting some cash on the table just in case Sasuke forgets his lunch money. Huh, it's been a while since I don't have a ton of stuff on me, I'm left with just my normal clothes, a wallet and keys. Not wearing stuff with the clan symbol since I'm someone with some measure of common sense, unlike someone in canon.

Hopefully, I've trained Sasuke enough so he won't just stick a big, shiny Uchiha clan symbol on his back when he goes on missions in the future. After the Uchiha massacre, these eyes have only gotten more and more expensive and the bounty for them is still skyrocketing. It's kind of a miracle that Kakuzu didn't target Sasuke for his bounty in canon, really.

Oh well, I'm not taking any chances here. I will make Sasuke wear a plain and boring standard shinobi uniform and not literally wear a big, large red target on his back. If any famous bounty hunters still target him and his team after all that work, I'm blaming it on the team seven curse.

After walking for a good while, I arrive at and enter the building, greeting the receptionist. He seems like the standard office worker around here, with eye bags deeper than I've ever thought possible. He quickly looks at a file, trying to figure out if I have an appointment here since I'm, sadly, a regular.

"Oh, Akari. You booked the time from four to six in the evening." He glances at the clock. "It's a little past four, so you can go straight in. I'm pretty sure Inochi doesn't have anything to do right now except waiting for you anyways. You know the way to his office."

"Sure, thanks." I walk down the corridor and stand in front of a plain wooden door which I knock on. Someone says come in from the other side so I push it open.

Inochi sits there, groaning when I come into view. He grabs his head, and his facial expression clearly shows that he's contemplating just slamming the door on me. Which, rude! How dare he even think about doing that to one of his most loyal patients?

"Is a visit from me really that bad for your mental and physical health?" I ask him. "You do have more gray hair, and your hairline is getting worse…"

"Shut up, I don't want to hear it!" He throws some books at me. I dodge out of the way and he fumes. "You don't even have the decency to get hit by the fucking book! This stress is going to cut my lifespan in half!"

"Hey, if you die early, you might get the reincarnation treatment? You might qualify, I'm pretty sure I haven't done anything to earn this, so I'm assuming that it's just luck based," I cock my head to the side. "Probably, I'm not very sure about it. Your life will definitely be embarrassing for the first few years, and having new parents is kinda hard to adjust to. Well, at least for me."

Inochi screeches. "I have a daughter and a perfectly fine life, I don't want to be reincarnated! There are so many insane worlds in your head, who knows if I get put in one of those?" Damn, what has he peeked into? I did let him run unchecked in my mind before, which in hindsight wasn't such a great idea, but it worked in the end so I'm not complaining.

"So, what have you been doing with all that information? I'm curious, come on, spit it out." He gives me a scathing look. "Don't tell me you've just been sitting on that gold mine keeping all that juicy info to yourself, I know you're better than that."

"I've been dropping some subtle information about the Akatsuki to Jirarya and the Hokage, but I really can't do much with limited information. You did let me into your head a few times, but all I've got are little bits and pieces. It's hard for me to link them together! Plus, I've been busy coming to terms with what your mind has shown me. It's been a stressful couple of years for me, ok? I don't have time to do anything too impactful, or things might deviate from the future you saw!" He begins banging his head on the table. Should I worry about anyone coming in because of the noise? "I've been working with what little information your mind willingly provides, what more do you want from me?"

I take pity on the man and stop tormenting him. "For what it's worth, there's not many people that would believe me, and you're one of the more trustworthy ones that has a convenient mind reading ability. Shinya would probably believe me, but he's still a Chunin, so he can't really do anything with that information. I'm sorry it had to be you, though."

The man stops his antics, and his smile turns bitter. "I know. From what you've seen, the whole world will go to shit, and the survival of everyone is on the shoulders of a couple teenagers. Still, I suppose this information is helpful to me. Thanks to you, I definitely will spoil my daughter a lot more, since my chances in that future of yours don't look too great. It's nice too, to see her shaping up to be a lot more competent than what all of us thought she would be."

He shakes his head. A few seconds go by until Inochi continues to speak. "Well, I imagine you haven't just come here to talk about these things, so spit it out, you booked a two-hour session for a reason." He grunts.

Well, he better strap in cause he's in for a wide ride this time. It's time to tell him even more about this story.
