Chapter Sixty Two
Asli drummed her fingers against the steering wheel, sighing as the traffic inched forward at a frustratingly slow pace. The city was as loud as every early morning; horns blaring, pedestrians weaving through cars, and the engines of impatient motorcyclists making noise.
She glanced out the window, letting her eyes wander, when suddenly, they landed on something familiar. A massive billboard loomed above the intersection, its bright lights cutting through the weather's haze.
And there she was… there was Lisa.
She was smiling in the photo, a radiant, effortless kind of happiness that Asli had never imagined herself wearing. Her makeup was perfect, and her hair tied in a simple ponytail swung to the other side like a soft breeze had just touched it.
She looked… beautiful. Confident. She would dare say free; she looked carefree.
