Most of the vampires that had still life in them were set free and went on their way, but each of them knows none of this is over. They aren't trapped in the cages, but it doesn't mean they are truly free. They will carry the invisible and visible scars for the rest of their lives, the gut-wrenching memories of being tortured, starved, and treated worse than an animal. Worse than a dog because even dogs are treated with dignity.
Yet it's the scars that usually shape the individual into who they are unless they find the strength to live in peace with it.

Sebastian and his father carried most of the dead bodies that had lost the will to live in the center of the room. Each of the dead bodies piled up like a massive hill. Limbs sprawled over each other, and heads lie backward like eerie statues.
