Chapter 96 - The Deal

Division Base: Corridor

"Am I the one that's going to follow her, or you?" Abraham asked Marie, both of them watching Scarlett as she walked out of the Division base.

Marie stopped, looking at Abraham up and down. "You better take your Elixir first, old man, otherwise, you'll be left behind," Marie said sarcastically. She knew the ingredient of Abraham's Elixir that kept him young. Thinking about it, she rolled her eyes at Abraham as she followed Scarlett.

"What happened to respecting your elders these days?" Abraham whispered, shaking his head. He took an eyedrop from his suit pocket, containing a white liquid. He opened it, stopped, and frowned with narrowed eyes as he saw a man following Marie.

"An Acquaintance," Abraham whispered, figuring out who it was, one of the hunters from the meeting room. He continued using the eye drops on his eyes, making them turn red for a moment, as he felt strength rushing through his body.

"Marie, can I talk to you for a second?" Chris Argent said hurriedly, following Marie, walking beside her.

"Whatever you want, Argent kid, I don't have it," Marie said with a frown, continuing to walk, following Scarlett.

"It's important. It's better if we can talk in private," Chris said seriously, following Marie, who hid behind a pillar in the parking lot.

"It may be important to you, but I don't have time for this now," Marie whispered as she observed Scarlett getting into a car. "Fuck," she whispered, as she hadn't brought a car. It was already good that she had attended the meeting, considering she had just finished a close hunt in Hungary.

"Please, I'm not the one that needs help," Chris said, pleading in his voice.

"It's either you say it now or you say it on the way. And did you bring a car?" Marie asked, turning to face Chris.

"It's a– Car, yes I do," Chris was about to tell her the reason, but got confused by her question.

Marie opened her palm towards Chris. "Keys," she ordered. Chris looked at her with doubt.

"Keys, Now kid," Marie repeated with wide eyes. Chris took his keys out of his pocket and gave them to Marie.

"Why do you even follow her?" Chris asked in confusion. He had already noticed Marie was following Scarlett when he was talking to her.

"Answers," Marie said, walking towards the cars in the parking lot.

"The black SUV," Chris said, pointing to his car.

Marie pressed his keys, opening the door as she got into the driver's seat. Chris got into the passenger seat and strapped on his seatbelt.

As the car started, someone shouted from outside.

"Wait for me!" Abraham shouted in a gruff voice, walking towards the car with his cane at a fast pace for an old man.

"For Christ sake," Marie whispered, as she honked the horn, opening the windows. "Make it faster, old man!" she shouted in irritation, feeling Scarlett was already gone.

"Kids these days," Abraham muttered as he opened the backseat door and got inside, taking off his hat. "Now go!" he said, leaning back in the seat.

"What do you want?" Marie asked Chris, without even looking at him, as she drove off the parking lot towards where Scarlett was going.

"Do you accept apprentices?" Chris asked hopefully, holding the grab handle inside the car for support as Marie drove fast.

"Huh," Marie scoffed before chuckling. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"What age are you in? Do you think you're young enough to get taught again to hunt by a Grimm?" Marie said with a grin, teasingly. Although it was common for a Grimm to teach young hunters who were inexperienced, as Grimms were the best hunters and perfect teachers, Chris was already old and had experience hunting from his father.

"Look out!" Chris said, seeing Marie wasn't looking at the road.

"My senses are more reliable than you think," Marie whispered, while her face turned serious. "So, I'll repeat it again, what do you want?"

"I'm not the one that you will be teaching. It's my daughter," Chris said with a sigh, clenching his fist as he thought of how his daughter had awakened as a Grimm.

"Your daughter? Why don't you teach her yourself?" Marie frowned. She couldn't think why the Argent, whose family was full of hunters, wouldn't teach his daughter.

"If you don't want to teach your own daughter, Gerard should be willing," Marie said, knowing how much Gerard would be glad to teach his granddaughter, as he always wanted to kill supernatural creatures.

"No, it can't be him, not him," Chris said excitedly, punching his legs as he couldn't ever trust him, not even his sister who had turned into a monster.

"Oh, tell me about it," Marie said with a raised brow, seeing this as she began to drive calmly, as she saw Scarlett's car. Abraham moved to the middle of the backseat, wanting to listen to Chris.

"Ahem, it can't be me or my father, as both of us are not Grimm," Chris said, changing the subject as he didn't want to tell other people about the issues of his family.

Marie nodded slightly before stopping the car. Marie and Abraham exchanged a look, understanding what Chris wanted to say.

"So, your daughter awakened into a Grimm, just like her ancestor?" Marie asked, although Grimms were super rare among awakened humans, most of those who awakened as Grimms today had Grimm ancestors in their bloodline.

"Congratulations," Abraham said, patting Chris on the shoulder.

"So, can you?" Chris asked Marie, as it would be better for a Grimm to teach Allison rather than just an awakened human hunter like him.

"Hmm, why me?" Marie asked, while continuing to drive.

"Our families know each other, so I could trust you. And I want Allison to learn away from our family. I want her to learn more than our code, and more importantly, a morality," Chris said, sighing as he had already given up on convincing his sister to change, as she was too far gone, like his father, but with Allison, he couldn't afford to make a mistake.

The car became silent as Chris became uneasy that Marie wouldn't agree.

"You should accept it," Abraham said from the back. He saw Marie wasn't talking. "This guy probably attended the meeting to talk to you," he said, tapping Chris on the shoulder.

"Ahem, ahem, well, my family was close to Hungary," Chris whispered, feeling Marie's gaze.

Marie just raised a brow, as if to say "Really?"

"Well, we took missions that were close to your hunt," Chris whispered, as he and his wife had done their best to give Allison the best teacher they could find.

"And Gerard? He won't be happy if he knew the only Grimm in your family was learning from me," Marie said. She had an infamous name among hunters and Grimms, some even calling her a hypocrite, given her husband was a supernatural creature.

"He doesn't have any say in this matter," Chris said seriously. He would even fight his father if he had to.

"Good," Marie said, nodding slightly. "Then from now on, you don't have any say in this matter either," she said with a smile appearing on her lips.

Chris looked at Marie, thinking she was rejecting him. Then Abraham tapped his shoulder again.

"She means she will take your daughter as an apprentice," Abraham said in a gruff voice.

"Is that so?" Chris whispered, as he saw Marie's smile. "Thank you," Chris bowed slightly towards Marie. He couldn't help but be happy for his daughter.

"Have you guys eaten?" Marie asked, seeing Scarlett parking outside a restaurant.

"Nope, me and my family came to Budapest when we heard about the accident," Chris said, shaking his head.

"Don't look at me. I hurriedly got on a plane when I heard about the vampires," Abraham said to Marie, who was looking at him in the rearview mirror.

Marie shook her head, parking in front of the restaurant. "It's good. Let's eat." Then she pointed at Chris. "Call your family and invite them. You're the one paying," she said, getting out of the car.

"You better not make her wait," Abraham said, getting out of the car.

Chris shook his head with a smile, as he called his wife. "She agreed," Chris said, delivering the good news to his family.

Hideout02

Lucian walked inside his hideout, pushing the plastic flap door open, holding a cooler. He looked at Selene, who was quiet and not opening her eyes.

Lucian shook his head, knowing Selene should be listening to him. He stepped towards the table and laid the cooler on it. As he opened the cooler, it revealed Alexander's severed leg, cut in two parts by Lucian's energy blade, again in plastic, and of course, ice.

He took one part out, the part with the most meat and blood, and laid it on the table, opening the plastic. Selene, on the operating table, reacted. She opened her eyes, frowning. She hadn't had any blood to drink since she had been there, and she couldn't help but look at what Lucian was doing.

"Whose body part did you get this time?" Selene asked. Though curious, she just wanted to annoy Lucian for leaving her alone.

Lucian didn't answer, as he used a syringe on the table to drain the blood from the leg part, filling the whole syringe. He lifted his head, walking towards Selene.

"This is the only thing you will get," Lucian said, even though he would fulfill his side of their deal. The blood in Alexander's severed leg was important for his research.

"Aren't you a bit petty?" Selene asked, frowning, as she thought Lucian was pissed at her and didn't want to feed her blood.

"This will make you stronger and allow you to walk under the sun again," Lucian whispered, looking at Selene in the eyes.

Selene's eyes widened, and she even began to tremble a bit. She hadn't thought her opportunity would come so fast.

"Whose blood is that?" she asked, thinking that whoever it belonged to was probably special.

"From your progenitor, the first Immortal," Lucian said before stabbing the syringe into Selene's heart. "Evolve," Lucian whispered, looking at Selene in the eyes as he pressed the syringe, making Alexander's blood flow through Selene's heart.

"You—" Selene couldn't finish as her eyes turned white, and her body began to tremble.

Lucian just gave her a look before pulling out the syringe, walking back to his table as he started to drain every bit of blood on Alexander's severed leg, every part of it important.

When he heard Selene begin to calm down, he turned around.

Selene's eyes snapped open, and her iris turned white platinum before going back to blue and then into Hazel, as she closed her eyes. In her mind, she saw Alexander's past experiences, vivid but fleeting. Then, Selene saw the giant silver fox flame that Lucian had used before returning to the real world.

Lucian, who was slicing the leg part piece by piece, heard the restraint on the operating table snap. When he turned around, he saw Selene had disappeared.

"Looks like you recovered. That's good. Wait for a moment, then we're meeting someone," he said, not bothered that Selene had grown stronger.

"Aren't you afraid I'll kill you?" Selene asked curiously as she appeared in front of the ammunition, looking at the UV bullets.

"You're not stronger than Marcus, and you're certainly not stronger than Alexander," Lucian said calmly, knowing Selene should have seen Alexander's memories. "But you can try," he said with a smirk appearing on his face, showing his confidence.

"You really don't act like your kid," Selene whispered with doubt, as she held the UV bullets in her hand, crashing it on her palm. The UV liquid didn't burn her as it dropped to the ground. 'It works,' she thought with wide eyes, before hiding her expression nonchalantly.

"You'll be the one that's going to clean that up," Lucian said, taking out the other part of the leg from the cooler.

"Do you have any other clothes?" Selene asked, walking towards Lucian, as her bodysuit was destroyed at the waist. She didn't even bother looking at the UV liquid on the ground. It was impossible for her to clean.

Lucian stopped working, turning towards Selene. He observed her for a few seconds, shaking his head. "I don't have any women's clothes, but you can use mine." He then pointed towards outside.

"The last room in the corridor is my room. Take what you want, and take a shower, you stink," Lucian said with a small laugh.

"You're not doing so well either," Selene said, looking Lucian up and down. He was wearing borrowed pants and a shirt from Nik's team. When her focus turned to his face, she couldn't help but look longer, before shaking her head, as she got out of the room.

"Looks like my charm works just fine," Lucian whispered in amusement, feeling Selene's gaze before she left.

•-----•-----•-----•-----•

Selene found Lucian's room. Walking straight to the bathroom, she took a quick shower, letting the hot warm water flow through her body and the chance to wash off the grime and dried blood on her body. As the water cascaded over her curves, Selene looked at her hand, feeling the pulse of her new strength as her eyes turned blue.

Her senses were sharper, her movements quicker. She even saw Alexander, a strange echo of his memories and experiences in her mind. It was disconcerting, but also intriguing. Selene wondered what else she could do, what other abilities had been unlocked. Closing her eyes, Selene couldn't help but think of Lucian, who she saw controlling a large silver fire. 'Is this how Alexander died?' she thought, shaking her head as she saw a glimpse of Lucian being naked inside the giant silver flame.

Turning off the shower, Selene pushed her hair up, frowning, remembering she hadn't brought a towel. She walked out of the bathroom, naked, unbothered by the water dripping from her body, walking towards the closet.

Selene was surprised to find a few clean shirts and pants in the closet. As she took a towel to dry herself, the door opened.

Selene froze, her breath catching in her throat. Slowly, she turned, her gaze meeting Lucian's. His eyes, dark and intense, swept over her, lingering on the curves of her body, the drops of water tracing trails down her skin.

The air crackled with unspoken tension, the silence filled with a simmering intensity that pulsed between them.

They locked eyes, a silent conversation passing between them, a primal recognition of the raw attraction that simmered beneath the surface.
