"Dad… Dad," Jovana cried out as she knelt beside her father and shook him hard, begging him to wake up. At that moment, every soldier watching the young lady of the Stafford family cry for her father felt moved, some of them looking away as though they couldn't bear to watch the heart-wrenching scene.
"Jovana, pull yourself together! Dad is gone and won't be coming back," Elijah said, a lone tear escaping his eye. He couldn't bear to watch his sister in that condition. He didn't know how she had learned about the incident, but seeing that she was just clad in a silk robe, he could tell she had been getting ready for bed and couldn't care less about what she was wearing before rushing out of the house.
"No. He has to come back. He promised me!" Jovana screamed, her body trembling as she hit her brother's chest. At that moment, her desperate cry seemed to shatter the skies, summoning a sudden downpour that echoed the turmoil brewing within her.
