Chapter 9 - 9. Demonstration

"What's going on..."

Lin Qing looked at his hands and couldn't help but frown slightly.

He had only completed a single session of the 46-version of the Sunrise Training Method, and his body stopped absorbing that mysterious energy.

His body cells felt satiated, refusing to absorb more.

"Limited appetite..."

Lin Qing searched online for a while, finally understanding.

Logically, although his body had transformed to the First Limit, the cells should still be able to devour that mysterious energy, just without further transforming.

But as it stands, they're full.

A normal body can only practice once a day anyway.

So, calculating like this, he needed 65 days to compensate for this 46-version of the Sunrise Training Method he had advanced.

"A little over two months, not exactly slow, it could even be considered fast..."

"However, if I want to be faster, it seems there's a solution."

With today's information age, the Sunrise Training Method is being promoted nationwide, and info about it is naturally not restricted.

Lin Qing quickly found a solution to this situation.

"The cheapest way... using High Energy Release Liquid can make the body cells hungrier, the K1 series is specially made for those who haven't broken through the First Limit, the discounted price for one set of High Energy Release Liquid is 89,999 yuan?"

"Ninety thousand yuan for one set, and this is the cheapest? Only ten vials in one set?"

Lin Qing was a bit speechless.

Normally, people practicing the Sunrise Training Method need to practice hundreds or even thousands of times to gradually approach perfect practice.

One vial of High Energy Release Liquid lets you practice only two extra times a day, about three times the efficiency.

So a set of ten vials just provides twenty extra practices, and this costs ninety thousand yuan?

If hundreds or thousands of practices are needed, wouldn't it take millions to be enough?

"No wonder only the wealthy can afford it..."

Lin Qing was somewhat helpless.

He currently had just a few thousand in savings, not enough to buy even one set.

Actually, he only needed two sets.

Twenty vials of High Energy Release Liquid, used in twenty days, would allow him to practice two extra times each day, and in a little over twenty days, he'd complete the remaining sixty-four sessions.

But eighteen thousand was still too much.

"I'll think about it when I have money."

Lin Qing thought to himself, "After I become permanent, a second-level Patrol Officer's monthly salary is four thousand, and a first-level Patrol Officer's is five thousand... not much indeed, it's no wonder some people get extra income on the side..."

Even if he passed the vocational exam and got promoted to third-level Patrol Department, his salary would only increase to seven thousand.

The main change in promotion to the Patrol Department was the right to carry a gun, but the salary increase wasn't significant.

His cousin, a second-level Patrol Officer, only earned twelve thousand.

Compared to ordinary people, it's a high salary, but compared to the wealthy, it's nothing.

Actually, if he asked his cousin for a loan, he probably could get it, but since she transferred her merit points to him and also needed money urgently, there was no need to burden her.

What good would it do to break through earlier?

To quickly learn the 77-version Method?

Even if he learned the 77-version Method, without mastering two Combat Skills, he still wouldn't qualify as a Deputy Captain, let alone join the Chaoyang Martial Arts Hall.

"I'll make money when I have the chance."

Lin Qing wasn't in a particular hurry, "Now is my high-speed progress period, and once I master the 77-version Method and Combat Skill, earning money shouldn't be difficult; if it takes a bit longer, so be it."

Even though working under Chief Han offered no extra benefits, after he passed the Patrol Major exam and earned one or two merits, he'd move on from Group Two; by then, Chief Han wouldn't have control over him.

Once stronger, making money would be easier.

If he could master the Original Chaoyang Method, even the City Patrol Bureau Team would invite him, and his status would be entirely different.

...

He could only pay back one debt a day, and the majority of his time, Lin Qing focused on reading professional books related to the patrol exam.

The Inspection Bureau organized professional exams every month on the 25th, and today was December 11th, leaving him fourteen days.

With his current memory, as long as he put in the effort, he might pass the exam this month.

While reading until nine in the evening, his phone suddenly made a soft sound.

Lin Qing glanced at it, seeing a WeChat message from Chief Han.

[Chief Han: Patrol duty tonight, meet us at the entrance of your complex at ten sharp]

"Meet at the complex entrance?"

Lin Qing was puzzled, they were actually coming to pick him up?

...

In the dim night, coldness swept over.

Lin Qing's body condition was much better than before, and the combination of thermal undergarments with the patrol uniform kept him warm.

Even the temporary patrol uniform was only missing the epaulet; the fabric wasn't much different, equally warm.

Once the Logistics Department delivered his epaulet and patrol uniform tomorrow, he would officially be a Patrol Officer.

Just after ten, a limo-like black patrol car raced up from the street and stopped steadily before him.

The window rolled down, revealing Chief Han and others inside.

"Get in."

The patrol car's space was considerable, with a driver's seat, a passenger seat, and two facing rows in the back, seating six if squeezed.

Besides Chief Han, there was the delicate short-haired girl 'Little Qin' and three other male patrol officers.

One drove, another in the passenger seat, and Little Qin and a lean buzz-cut young man sat facing Chief Han in the back.

Lin Qing glanced and took a seat next to Chief Han.

"Chief, why bother picking me up at my doorstep?" Lin Qing said, "I could have met at the substation, it's not far."

"Just passing by." Chief Han replied calmly.

"Passing by?" Lin Qing asked, puzzled.

"Haha..."

Little Qin smiled and said, "It's not particularly for you; tonight's patrol mission is on Iron Stone Street, so you don't have to run around."

"What a coincidence?" Lin Qing raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Not a coincidence, just arranged for the mission to be in Iron Stone District." Little Qin laughed.

This made Lin Qing even more curious, "Arranged?"

"Nothing major, new full-fledged patrol officers receive this kind of treatment."

Little Qin smiled, "Starting patrol in your neighborhood is to let the restless characters nearby clearly know you're part of the Patrol Team now; you could see it as intimidation."

Lin Qing suddenly understood.

"There's a task, though."

Chief Han said flatly, "Recently, a new gang called the Blue Scarf Gang appeared on Iron Stone Street; they seem to have outsiders involved, perfectly matching Public Security's need to investigate."

After a while, the patrol car stopped at a secluded street corner on Iron Stone Street, a neon-flashing bar entrance visible not far away.

"The main members of the Blue Scarf Gang are typically active at the Iron Stone Bar at night."

"According to undercover investigations by temporary patrol officers already on site, only new recruits of the Blue Scarf Gang wear blue scarves, while the leaders have no distinguishing features; their leader is nicknamed 'Luo Tuo'."

"Once the action starts, Zhang Yufei and Liang Jun, you two handle blocking the front and back doors of the bar."

"Lin Qing, Qin Qin, Wang Hengyi, you three equip yourselves and follow me to search inside."

"Everyone in the bar, regardless of whether they're customers or staff, must undergo facial and fingerprint identification; if that fails, then blood samples and on-site DNA matching against the database is required, as Public Security demands."

"Begin operation."
