Chapter 7
Looking at the kids who turned pale at her question Su Ying felt exasperated. Glancing at them she went back into the kitchen to continue. The children immediately sighed in relief and started muttering in hushed tones. Thanks second walked up to the first with tears in his eyes.
"Brother do you think she is planning something bad. She has been quiet since she woke up?".
Deep in thought he glanced at the woman busy with something in the kitchen a strange glint flashed through his eyes. Turning back to look at his brother he patted his head while consoling him.
"Don't worry, dad is here and if she tries anything bad I will kill her".
A fierce glint flashed through his eyes but was quickly suppressed. They both left the house to look for what to eat. There was no food in the house and they didn't expect her to feed them. So they were going to look for something for something to eat.
Inside the kitchen Su Ying was only able to find some wild vegetables and prepared it to hold her belly. After devouring the food and resting a bit she regained a bit strength and decided to clean up the kitchen. First she disposed all the rubbish littered everywhere, washed the pots and plates then wiped the tables and the floor. By the time she was done it was almost 7pm and there were no sight of son and father duo. Sighing she decided to take a bath in her space. Flashing in there she didn't waste time and was done immediately. Her clothes were only but a few which were already dirty leaving her with no option but to wear it back. She came out and noticed that it was only a minute in the normal world.
Su Ying made her way outside and was stunned. The green of the mountain,the natural and fresh breeze and the smoke from each household showing the were preparing supper was fascinating to her who was seeing the natural landscape of this time. In her previous life she was always busy barely having time to look after herself or admiring the city around her. Now seeing this scenery made her happy and she couldn't help but greedily breathe in the natural and non polluted air.
After standing there for a while she decided to walk up the mountains. She was searching for any thing that could make her rich or even fill herself with food. Looking around it was obvious that she had to venture deeper if she wanted to find any of this mountain treasures like in the books. In the books she read, the female protagonist always found goodies whenever she entered the mountains so she was going to try her luck too. Su Ying looked at the dark sky and decided against the idea leaving it for another day. She decided to come back tomorrow to check it out.
On her way back she could hear the laughter of children and chattering of adults from different houses far from where she stood which made her a bit envious. Her own home was cold as ice showing no intention of melting. Oh well, she would try her best then and leave the rest to fate. Arriving at her house she was met with silence but she opened the door to find her husband in the kitchen cooking and the kids helping. They'll looked up both seeing her and all the harmonious moment vanished. Her husband spoke first.
"I'm surprised you came back here I thought you were gone"
A mocking smile was visible on his lips. Saying that he didn't spare her any glance. Su Ying stood there for some time but seeing no one looking at her she could only sigh and go back to her room to rest.
Meanwhile the father and son prepared the grain the got from where she didn't know and eat it without leaving any for her. It was not like the original host would keep any for them so she harboured no thoughts of them keeping some for her. After eating they cleared the table and retired to their room.
