Chapter 239 - Chapter 240: She Came Rushing in a Jeep

Chapter 240: She Came Rushing in a Jeep

At dawn the next day, Ranmaru yawned as he arrived at the school field, but the scene before him quickly woke him up.

Rin was running with Chino, both of them loudly reciting theoretical knowledge as they ran.

Ranmaru soon realized they were preparing Chino for her retake exam.

But would this really work? He could sense that Chino's main reason for attending school was to experience the childhood she missed. For her, as long as school was fun, it didn't matter much if she learned anything.

Even if Rin managed to push her for a day, what about afterward?

With that thought, Ranmaru waved back to the two as they greeted him, then started his own training nearby, planning to check on them over the next few days.

Seeing Rin's confident expression, she must have a plan.

However, by the third day, the peaceful atmosphere changed drastically. Rin was holding a kunai to the drowsy Chino's neck, forcing her to run.

By the fifth day, Rin had moved on to throwing shuriken at Chino, who was now running faster.

By the seventh day, Rin stopped using shuriken and formed her hand into a gun shape, chasing Chino with the Water Gun Technique, making her run even faster.

By the ninth day, Rin didn't even need to use the Water Gun Technique herself. She brought out a gun-shaped scientific ninja tool and started firing shots, pushing Chino to sprint for her life.

Finally, in the last week before the retake exam, Ranmaru, who had thought the situation was just a bit harsh before, now took a sharp breath at what he saw.

What was he witnessing? Had Rin completely gone dark?

On the field, Rin was driving a jeep developed by the Tech Development Bureau, chasing after Chino.

Chino, wailing and running, screamed, "Rin, do you even know how to drive?!"

She had never seen Rin drive before, nor had she ever taken a driving test. After all, the world of ninjas wasn't suited for cars, and this kind of vehicle was still a novelty for most, without a formal testing system.

"Nope!" Rin's cheerful voice came from behind, "Ninjas don't need vehicles for travel. I can't even brake, but I can steer and accelerate."

"Rin, you devil! Scientific ninja tools involve new technology, including bioengineering tools like artificial limbs and organs…"

Chino burst into tears, shouting curses while reciting various knowledge points.

Despite the dangerous situation, she never forgot to recite, as if it had become second nature to her. Or rather, as long as Rin was behind her, her mouth would automatically start reciting.

Rin nodded in satisfaction, pressing the gas pedal harder to increase the speed. She reached out to press a red button, and a machine gun emerged from the car's roof, firing at Chino's feet.

"Get through this week, and you'll have no problem with your retake, Chino!"

"You're a monster!"

Her desperate wails echoed through the sky.

In the school building, several teachers stood at the windows, watching the spectacle below.

They usually didn't arrive this early, but the recent activities on the school field had been quite entertaining, so many came early to watch the students' youthful energy.

However, today's scene was a bit too brutal. One male teacher, unable to bear it, spoke up:

"Who gave Rin that Jeep Number Three? Isn't this a bit much?"

"It's fine; Chino's faster than the car, and Rin knows her limits… probably."

Seeing Rin bring out the machine gun, the female teacher defending her wasn't so sure anymore.

"Sigh," the male teacher sighed, "I just don't get it. Chino has been a ninja, surviving in dangerous environments without sleep for nights. Why is studying a bit of theory so hard?"

He wasn't a ninja, just a theory teacher, so he didn't quite understand.

If she could endure the battlefield and sleepless missions, why couldn't she handle simple study sessions?

"Maybe she just doesn't like it," the female teacher speculated.

Apart from them, two other people were also talking in a corner.

"If a Jeep in low gear can't catch Chino, maybe our research is meaningless. Ninjas are too fast."

Kano Jeep disagreed, saying, "Why do you have to target ninjas? Like the electric cars developed by the United Nations, our creations are meant to benefit the general public. Don't overthink it."

"That's true, but to popularize it, we'll need to build roads first."

"Lord Yusuke has already been working on that. The main roads in the Land of Snow are complete, and they'll gradually expand to surrounding areas."

Meanwhile, on the rooftop of the school building, three people were also watching Rin and Chino.

"They're having so much fun," Hyuga Fuji remarked.

"…I don't see how Chino is enjoying this at all."

Hozuki Gengetsu's eye twitched as he turned to Hyuga Fuji, "You'd better go calm them down. Chino listens to you more. If not, they'll definitely have a falling out."

"Alright," Hyuga Fuji smiled, standing by the window and watching the lively scene below. "By the way, what forbidden jutsu did you promise Rin to make her so motivated?"

"It's not like it's my fault," Hozuki Gengetsu rolled his eyes, unwilling to answer. "Why did you call us here today?"

At his question, Hyuga Fuji turned to Hyuga Miyuki, "The Yomi Cult has begun to act. Miyuki, you haven't forgotten your promise to the priestess, have you?"

Hyuga Miyuki thought for a moment before nodding heavily, "Of course I remember. The monster she mentioned was Moryo, right?"

"Exactly. Now's the time to fulfill that promise. With the Yomi Cult's help, Moryo has created an army of 20,000 undead warriors. Your task is to seize control of them."

Hyuga Miyuki's eyes lit up, "Understood."

Twenty thousand undead soldiers… So Priestess Miroku foresaw this!

If they could gain control over them, their base-level strength would increase severalfold! Hyuga Fuji then turned to Hozuki Gengetsu, "Gengetsu-senpai, your job is to lead the team protecting the priestess of the Land of Demons and take over the government there."

Hozuki Gengetsu raised an eyebrow, "The priestess doesn't want to stay in that position?"

The Land of Demons was already part of their country, but the priestess held special status and still had influence.

However, they didn't mind since Miroku had been cooperative.

But from Hyuga Fuji's words, it seemed like Miroku wanted to step down from her position.

Hyuga Fuji said casually, "She believes the priestess's mission is over. She thinks the next era isn't suitable for them and plans to settle in the Land of Snow to live peacefully in a shrine. Maybe she foresaw something."

Hozuki Gengetsu nodded thoughtfully.

That made sense. Besides foretelling and subduing demons, the priestess's strength wasn't formidable. In a prominent position, even if Hyuga Fuji and their people had no issues, enemy factions could exploit her status to stir up trouble.

Stepping down promptly was a wise move.

"As for Moryo, I'll handle him."

Hyuga Fuji gazed out the window, a faint smile playing on his lips.
