BOOM!
Groudon arrived in front of Wigglytuff and Dante in a single step. His massive arms reared back in a deceptively slow motion. However, when Dante realized it, the sharp claw was already in front of his face.
He slipped into the shadows, feeling a painful sensation on his forehead just before escaping. Meanwhile, Wigglytuff was not so lucky.
Although the Guildmaster made a preemptive action and dodged by jumping between Groudon's claws, the Legendary Pokemon used his other arm and sent the chubby Wigglytuff flying into the nearby rocky wall.
"Guildmaster!"
Chatot shouted in despair. Why didn't they listen to him? Facing this Pokemon from the myths, they would have no chance of surviving! Just the pressure Groudon emitted made even breathing difficult.
Even though he thought so, Chatot still rushed towards the Guildmaster's location.
"Dugtrio, get back to Bidoof and the others. Report to the Exploration Federation about what we just found out…we'll try to hold Groudon back as long as possible."
"...Understood. Good luck."
Dugtrio looked at Chatot's back with a sorrowful expression. This was the first time he encountered a Legendary Pokemon. Just by this soul-crushing pressure, he knew that no normal Pokemon would be able to stand against it in a battle.
Right now, the most he could do is not waste Chatot and the other's sacrifice and report the information they obtained.
At this time, Dante emerged from Azumarill's shadow. Glancing back, deep claw marks remained on where he and Wigglytuff previously stood.
For a 10-meter behemoth, Groudon's speed is no less than any of them. In fact, he is even faster. And feeling the familiar pressure emitted by him, Dante knew that Groudon should also have the Pressure Ability in addition to Drought.
Yet, Dante grinned. This pressure was less than the one emitted by Zapdos. It seems the replica Uxie can make is much weaker than the original. His eyes met with Pikachu and Azumarill, and the two of them similarly smirked.
"Pikachu, use Grass Knot and try to hold him down as long as possible. Azumarill, wait for my signal and bombard him with Power-up Punch and Ice Punch."
""Got it/Roger that.""
Pikachu looked at the gigantic Legendary Pokemon whose claws were even larger than the three of them and laughed.
"Hey Dan, do you think we'd get access to his treasure stash after defeating him?"
"Hah, I doubt it. But it doesn't hurt to try."
"GROOOOH! INSOLENCE!!"
Groudon roared in anger at seeing the three Pokemon being so casual in his presence. He stepped forward to launch another attack, but stumbled and almost fell headfirst. At some point, thick vines of grass had wrapped around both of his legs.
"GROOOHH!!"
The Legendary Pokemon raised his legs, using his monstrous strength to try and break the grass knot. However, these vines were unexpectedly tough. And as time passed, more and more emerged from the ground, increasing their hold.
Groudon roared in frustration. He used his claws to break the vine on his left leg. With its sharpness, he was able to do so with ease. But when he wanted to cut the ones on the right, a huge impact struck the back of his head.
His consciousness blacked out. It only reawakened when his body slammed the ground.
"Critical hit~ Azumarill, now!"
On top of Groudon's head, Dante laughed at the sight of the gigantic red Pokemon sprawled on the ground. With his strength, even if he hit the Legendary Pokemon in a critical spot, he shouldn't have caused him to fall. But it was different when he used Foul Play.
Foul Play is a Dark-type move with a base power of 95. The reason why he used this move is because instead of using the user's attack stat, it makes use of the opponent's.
Based on Dante's estimate, Groudon's attack should have reached more than 150. With such a huge attack dealing critical damage, it was testament to the Legendary Pokemon's strength that he was still able to maintain his consciousness.
Azumarill wasted no time. After hearing Dante's words, he used Aqua Jet to land beside him and began punching Groudon's head alternately with Power-up Punch and Ice Punch.
"GROOOOHH! YOU HAVE EXCEEDED MY PATIENCE! DIE!!"
Groudon roared, his gaze focused on the Pikachu in the distance. He knew the one responsible for trapping him with the vines is that hateful yellow rat.
Pikachu, who had his hands on the ground and focused on wrapping Groudon with Grass Knot, suddenly felt the earth below him tremble. Without warning, jagged spikes of rock emerged from underground, hitting him in the stomach.
Seeing Pikachu being launched through the air, Groudon roared in triumph. He felt the grass knot around his body loosened a little. He wanted to stand up and take care of the two bastards on his back. However, he didn't even have time to stretch his arms when the grass around him tightened.
"IMPOSSIBLE!"
He turned his head, and saw the Pikachu from earlier with his hand on the ground once more.
Pikachu grinned and stuck out his tongue to Groudon. Although the impact from being hit in the stomach hurt a little, because of the Zapper Scarf, the Ground-type energy accompanying the attack just served to heal instead of damage him.
In the distance, Chatot's beak almost hit the ground. The Legendary Pokemon Groudon, Lord of the Earth, Creator of Entire Continents, is on his knees and was being played around with by the three apprentices of their Guild.
If it weren't for the crushing pressure the Pokemon emitted, he would have suspected it was Dante playing around with his illusions again.
"Hisss. Ow, ow."
"Guildmaster! Are you alright?"
"Sniffle~ I-it hurts."
Chatot swallowed his saliva. He looked at Wigglytuff who had tears pooling in his eyes. Was the Guildmaster about to enter…'that' state? If so, everyone here was doomed!
"G-Guildmaster, please calm down! Things are already under control. Dante and the others-"
"Hnnnggghh, UWAAAAAAA!!!"
The air began to vibrate with Wigglytuff's cry. It spread, starting from the top of the plateau, reaching the ears of Bidoof and the others below, and expanding further outside the forest.
Dante, Azumarill, and Pikachu covered their ears, almost becoming deaf from being exposed at such close range. Meanwhile, Groudon was not so lucky.
He, who was the main target of Wigglytuff's attack, and having suffered countless blows from Dante and his team, finally fainted and scattered into the air.
Azumarill and Dante fell from atop Groudon's illusory body, hitting the ground with a dull thud. However, the two didn't even feel the pain from the fall due to the buzzing feeling in their skulls.
Dante struggled to turn his head to look at Wigglytuff. This attack…its magnitude is comparable, or even surpasses the one Pikachu released during the battle with Zapdos!
Atop the plateau, the smaller rocks had already been pulverized into powder. Cracks were forming on the cliff walls.
Staring at the break on the ground forming where he stood, Dante worried that the entire plateau would collapse.
"Stop!"
A mystical voice sounded amidst everyone's mind. At the same time, everything once again returned to silence. All around them, the cracks and crevices began to disappear at visible speed.
At some point, a mysterious blue Pokemon emerged from the cave where Groudon came from. A blue psychic-aura surrounded its body. Its closed eyes looked at the pink, chubby Pokemon whom it hypnotized to sleep.
"Triggering the Competitive Ability through sheer emotion, and using Calm Mind at the same time to maintain a semblance of control. Fascinating."
Dante's eyes lit up in realization after 'hearing' Uxie's words. So that's how Wigglytuff suddenly became so powerful.
Competitive is an Ability which increases a Pokemon's Special Attack by 20% when one of its stat is lowered. Clearly, Wigglytuff had mastered this Ability to provide a 100% boost.
When paired with Calm Mind that was also mastered to perfection, as well as a higher base stat due to breaking the racial limit, Wigglytuff's Special Attack reached such a terrifying level!
"Indeed."
Uxie turned his head and nodded at Dante in affirmation. Dante's eyes widened, he can read his thoughts?!
"Yes. After all, with your ears unable to function, this is our only viable method of communication. But do not fear, I can only hear your surface thoughts. I'm not so crass as to invade the privacy of other's minds without permission."
"Hey, who are you? Are you also a Legendary Pokemon?"
Pikachu stared warily at the harmless-looking Pokemon floating in the air. Unlike Zapdos and Groudon, he exuded no overwhelming pressure. And yet, Pikachu's instincts screamed to not offend this being.
"Hmm. It seems your companion already knows of my existence. Why don't you ask him instead?"
"You mean Dan? Dan, do you know who he is?"
Dante focused on looking at the ground and not thinking of anything. However, when he heard Pikachu's question, he still answered after some thought.
"Uxie, one of the three Lake Guardians. He is a Legendary Pokemon which was said to be responsible for giving everyone intelligence and the capacity to think."
"Quite. I am also in charge of guarding Fogbound Lake, which your group is trying to enter. So tell me, what is your purpose for wanting to enter my domain?"
