Chapter 40 - Worries and Concern

Azaria's head whipped toward Uraraka. "What?" He raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean, fresher's party?"

"Umm.." Uraraka looked at him confused "Party for we the freshmen?"

"Yeah man" Denki nodded "Basically, it's a party for the hero class freshers, A and B."

'Fresher's party? Was there any shit like that in the main story?' Azaria thought, trying to recall any mention of it. Nothing. The only 'party' was during the UA festival arc, and that was just a concert. Right?

Mina nudged him with her elbow. "Are you seriously just hearing about this?" Seeing him nod, she sighed. "Well, like Uraraka said, it's a party for us freshmen. But surprisingly, it's late."

"Yeah, I heard it was almost canceled," Kirishima added, looking at the curious faces around him. "Probably because of that 'incident.'"

"You mean when we thought there was an attack, but it was just the press?"

"Yeah."

"So they canceled it and then changed their minds?" Azaria leaned back. "That's crazy, though." 'Why didn't Momo tell me about the party then?' He asked inwardly before the brief memory of the incident in the infirmary flashed in his mind and he had to adjust slightly.

"As much I would hate to say this but let's leave the party for now, we have to focus on the sports festival!" Denki said.

"Why? What's the problem?" Azaria asked, his curiosity peaking.

Denki sighed as he rubbed his forehead "Fuck Bakugo bro, he had to make things difficult for us." The rest of them let out series of groans except for Iida who kept on repeating "Language please!! Speak politely as one attending the prestigious school, UA"

Azaria raised an eyebrow, almost letting out a smile "C'mon bruh, it can't be that bad. What happened?" Denki went on to narrate the interaction between Bakugo and Class 1B, how he provoked them and how the rest of the class have been put on the edge due to their declaration.

'Oh, I had even forgotten that happened. How I would have loved to see that in person.' Azaria mused inwardly as Denki narrated the event. "Honestly, I don't think Bakugo was wrong." Azaria shrugged.

Everyone turned to him, surprised.

He took a lollipop from the plastic bag and began to unwrap it. "Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he wasn't rash but it's a competition, you don't have to be all gentle about it." He put the lollipop in his mouth as he stood up "We have to show them why they're beneath us. Class B was going to pressure us either way. If we lose, people will question our strength and even the school itself. If we win, it's just proof that they belong in B class."

He excused himself as he went to throw the wrapper into the waste bin. There was a bit of silence before Denki whispered. "With the way he just put that, isn't he kinda worse than Bakugo?"

The group shared a laugh, but the conversation soon drifted to other topics.

***

Azaria tossed the plastic bag into the waste bin before stepping outside. Kirishima, Denki, and Iida stood in small groups, chatting, while Mina and Uraraka spoke off to the side.

The sunlight hit him hard, and he recoiled, feeling like a vampire. 'Damn, how long have I been inside?'

Denki noticed and smirked. "Why are you acting like that?" Azaria gave him the middle finger before shaking his hand "Thank you for checking up on me.....and loitering in my home."

"It's my pleasure" Denki grinned "With the way Mina wanted to check up on you, I thought you had one foot in the grave".

Azaria playfully smacked his chest before whispering, "I'm actually surprised I didn't see you with Jiro." Denki tilted his head, an eyebrow raised in confusion. Azaria just shrugged and moved on, thanking the others for checking up on him.

Iida, as expected, launched into a speech about the importance of resting and recovering properly. Azaria half-listened, wondering absently how overbearing this guy would be as a mother.

After about a minute or two of Iida's lecture, everyone finally left. Azaria turned to head inside, but as he reached the door, he noticed Mina wasn't following the others. Instead, she lingered by the entrance, arms crossed, watching him.

"What?" he asked, pushing the door open. "You're not leaving with them?"

Mina shook her head. "Nah. That's what I was trying to tell Uraraka earlier, I was planning to stay."

Azaria gave her a questioning look but stepped aside, letting her in. She walked past him into the house, her gaze sweeping over the room as she plopped onto the couch.

Azaria raised an eyebrow, a bit suspicious at her sudden change in behaviour. "I was wondering what made her come here since we don't really talk. I thought she came mostly because of Iida but I guess I didn't know better, either way isn't it rude to just leave her?"

Mina shrugged. "She'll be fine. The boys are with her."

"You sure?"

"Arghh… Azaria, don't make me feel bad about it," She groaned. "I'll make it up to her later."

Azaria chuckled as he joined her on the couch. "Alright, if you say so." He stretched out, sinking into the cushions. "So, how do you like my place?"

She almost choked on her saliva as her face flushed pink "W-what? What do you mean by that?"

He sat up, his eyebrow raised "I mean you're the one that said you wanted to know my address remember?" He titled his head slightly "Or have you forgotten?"

Her eyes widened for a second before realization dawned. "Oh… OH!" She let out a laugh and smacked his back. "I almost forgot about that." Her grin softened as she leaned in slightly. "Hope you're feeling better?"

Azaria's breath caught. She was close now, too close. He could see the flecks of gold in her yellow eyes, the slight curve of her smile. His heart thudded in his chest.

"Y-Yeah, it wasn't that serious, fortunately." He swallowed, trying to focus on her words rather than how her skirt hugged her curves. Was it the fact that she had moved closer, or was it because they were alone?

Her gaze flickered downwards. "I heard you were cut there, did it leave a scar?" Her voice was low and sultry or was it just his imagination? He glanced at his side "Nah, it didn't leave one. Quite a fortunate thing right?" He tried to sound casual, but in his head, a mantra played on repeat: 'Mina is just a friend. Just my dude.'

"Can I see it?" Her voice brought him out of his thoughts. While he tried to refuse, his hand betrayed him, lifting his shirt.

Her fingers brushed against his chest, tracing the spot where the wound had been. Her touch sent jolts of shock around his body as he felt blood flow south. The last time he had felt something like this since he came into this world was when he was with Momo in the infirmary.

Mina's fingers trailed from his side to his abs, moving with slow, deliberate strokes. A shaky breath slipped from his lips before he could stop it. She glanced up at him, her face tinged pink.

Azaria tried to say something, anything to stop himself but the words stuck in his throat.

Their eyes locked.

His body moved before his mind could catch up, leaning into her touch. She mirrored him. And before either of them could second guess it, their lips met in a slow, lingering kiss.
