Haisley turned to look at Lucas with a flat face. "Honey," Lucas called in his softest tone of voice. "Don't get mad, hum?"
"I just don't want it to get any longer. Sorry, if it made you angry," Lucas said again, his eyes pleading with his wife to forgive him.
"We'll talk about it tonight," said Haisley, who was still flat-faced.
"You better wash your hands and play with Luke while I finish cooking," Hailsley continued to say, and then she looked back down at her cooking. This afternoon she was cooking steak and potato wedges. The only vegetables were carrots and broccoli, which she was currently boiling.
