Chapter 75 - Meeting the Bosses [1]

Vanj was in a good mood; he had fully recovered from his losses.

'Not only were the losses fully recouped, but they were also exceeded by at least 3 fold considering the number of rare harpy girls.' He couldn't help but smile.

Lana had exceeded his every expectation, she was truly a gift. Possibly the only good thing that the Lizardman had ever done was capturing her.

It truly seemed like he would be able to keep his favorite slave for himself.

No, she deserved a better position.

Lizard was not a slave and he was useless compared to the girl.

She should become his business partner, someone equal, no he wouldn't allow that, she would become his closest servant.

He wanted to praise her to the bosses, however, that could undermine his own accomplishments.

She was his slave, her achievements were his.

And yet he couldn't take all the credit, he would praise her in moderation.

He made his way toward the upper quarter of the city, entering this quarter presented a stark difference, Instead of cramped homes and shops each plot was gated, and took a lot more space.

Nobility, no matter the race, has always loved gaudy, extravagant, and frankly wasteful designs.

Vanj approached a grand gate and waited.

After a mere moment, a figure approached the other side of the gate.

"Vanj, Bosses are waiting. Come in." The Blue Lizardman opened the gate, letting Vanj enter.

Vanj bowed before making his way into the front yard of the noble mansion.

He was led into a mansion before he heard the voice calling for him from behind the doors, the inpatient voice of the minotaur he had spoken to before reached him.

"Enter!" He obeyed as he entered a meeting hall, a massive circular table stood in the middle of the room, and around it sat 4 Individuals.

At left most seat was the gray Minotaur that spoke to Vanj before, next seat was a Large Black Lizardman, his body made him seem more like a dragon than a lizard, in next seat sat a hooded figure, horns stuck out under his hood and outline of his wings could be seen under the cloak.

The last seat was taken by a brutish green creature, an orc dressed in a suit.

"Sit, Vanj. I gave you a chance to correct your mistake. Now tell me were you successful. It has been only a day after all." Minotaur was first to speak.

"Yes Lord Vash, I was able to capture 30 slaves, more specifically 17 Harpy girls, 8 Sirens, and 5 Minotaurs," Vanj spoke with pride.

The hooded harpy raised his head before asking "You are saying you alone were able to capture so many rare girls?"

His question was heavy, if he lied he would have been killed, he sensed it.

"No Lord Shade, It is due to the harpy slave that I recently acquired, she was able to bait the girls into a trap." He explained.

"Hmmm... the girl that you dragged with you when you met me?" Vash asked.

"Yes. It was due to her innocent appearance that she was able to gather so many for us!" Vanj spoke, while he wanted to keep the credit it was undeniable that Lana was the sole reason he was alive, and if he had hidden the fact he dreaded of what would happen to him.

The orc leaned forward before speaking, "She seems rather talented, and obedient. Why keep her as a mere slave?"

"It was only recently I was able to acquire her, she didn't have a single day of training my lords."

"And yet she obeyed, and saved your neck? Are you sure you are not being tricked?" Shade spoke while raising his eyebrow.

"I suggest Vanj bring that exceptional slave to us, and we can pass the judgment. There is no reason a slave should be that obedient and obtain such value for her master right after capture." Lizardman spoke with skepticism, his voice commanding authority.

To Vanj their concerns made sense, however, he knew that Lana was that way because she truly believed he had saved her life.

Vanj bowed deeply before answering, "I will bring her here, I am sure you will see why I put my trust in her."

Lords nodded.

"Now onto next topic." Shade spoke.

"Fate's End branch in Valar had been destroyed." Shade spoke solemnly.

"What?! When?! WHO?!" Bosses shouted frantically, Fate's End was supposed to be the start of the Blackwater branch that could take over Human Kingdoms.

"I do not know, unfortunately, All information that reached me was that an impossibly powerful wave of holy energy was approaching them before they went quiet." Shade spoke.

The twins that were granted the privilege of leading Fate's End were no pushovers and yet he hadn't heard of them in days.

"While it is a shame, it is not an irrecoverable loss. Twins were loyal to Gaya not us."

"Yes, however, the issue is that a similar wave of holy power was detected just before we lost contact with major branches in the Towns of Lagun, Razj, and Nis. I have sent my men to inspect the towns." Shade spoke with a heavy voice.

"Shade... do you think we are being targeted? Is it Coek? He is supposed to only govern this area." Minotaur spoke, worry growing in his voice.

Their conversation weighed heavily on Vanj, no wonder the bosses were in a bad mood. A loss of a single branch would be horrible and yet here they were, multiple branches eradicated.

"We won't know until my spies report back, but for now we must wait." Shade spoke before turning to Vanj.

"I want you to bring that new slave here as fast as you are able. Understood?" Shade demanded to which Vanj couldn't do anything but nod.

"Good, you are dismissed."

Vanj bowed before making his way out of the mansion, his breathing heavy.

'Dealing with bosses is never easy.'
