Carlos ignored him, as it was the weekend and the small clinic was closed today; he planned to have lunch with Emily.
He had been living in the study for quite a while now, and in light of the meals Emily had cooked for him, he decided not to hold it against her and to move back and sleep with her today.
But as soon as he went downstairs, he found that not only was there no steaming lunch in the dining room, Emily's figure was nowhere to be seen.
On asking the servants, he learned that Emily had gone out to eat lunch with someone.
Carlos was already feeling displeased when Faye called again, and to his dismay, he heard that Faye was indeed having lunch with Emily.
