Chapter 22 - Ch 22: Grayfia Lucifuge

"Kazuya," she said, once again as if I didn't hear it right on first time "I need you to take my virginity."

I blinked. Not because I was surprised—I'd seen this coming from the moment she walked in—but because she'd said it so bluntly. No tact, no hesitation. Just straight to the point. My mind raced. Why now? Why me? I knew the answer, of course. Riser Phenex. The marriage. She was trying to take control of her own fate, even if it meant throwing herself at someone like me. But still, I am amazed that she would choose me for this stuff.

I leaned back against the edge of my bed, crossing my arms, "Take a seat," I said, motioning toward the chair of my study table. My voice was calm, but there was an uneasiness in my chest that I couldn't shake. The maid was about to show up any moment.

She hesitated, her lips pressing into a thin line, but she complied, sitting down with the grace, as if she didn't throw herself at me earlier. Her hands rested on her lap, fingers twitching slightly, betraying the nervousness she was trying so hard to hide. I stayed where I was, perched on the edge of my bed, studying her. The silence stretched between us until I broke it.

"What's the matter, Rias?" I asked, keeping my tone neutral "Why the sudden desperation? And don't tell me it's because you find me irresistible. I'm not stupid enough to believe that."

Her eyes flickered, a flash of something—anger? Shame?—before she looked away. She sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "You wouldn't understand," she said quietly. "There's… something I have to do. Something I can't avoid."

I raised an eyebrow, feigning ignorance. "And what's that?"

She hesitated, her fingers curling into fists on her lap. "My family… they've arranged a marriage for me"

I stayed silent, letting her continue. Inside, though, my thoughts were racing. I already know. Everyone knows. As a heir to the Gremory clan, she will be handed off to that arrogant, fire-cock. But I didn't say that. Instead, I kept my expression blank, waiting for her to continue.

"I can't do it," she said, her voice trembling now. "I can't marry him. He's… insufferable. Arrogant. He doesn't see me as a person, just as a prize to add to his collection. If I go through with this, I'll lose everything—my freedom, my future, my…" She trailed off, her voice breaking.

If you were so desperate then why didn't you learn spells from your brother to counter his regeneration? Well one part of me feels sorry for her, while other part of me wants to call out on her mistakes.

I watched her carefully, my arms still crossed. "So you came to me," I said slowly. "Because you think giving your virginity to me will somehow solve this?"

She looked up at me, her eyes blazing. "It's not just that. I… I thought if I could at least choose who I give my virginity to, it would be one thing I could control. One thing they couldn't take from me."

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Rias, this isn't the way. You're not thinking clearly. This isn't you." Yeah you were thinking too hard but it's not helping you anyway.

Before she could respond, the air in the room shifted. A teleportation circle flared to life on the floor, its intricate design glowing with a silver light. From it, Grayfia Lucifuge stepped out, her silver hair and icy demeanor cutting through the tension like a blade.

It's sad I am born in Rias timeline, wish I was in Sirzechs's timeline.

"Rias," Grayfia said, her voice calm but firm. "Lord Sirzechs would be furious if he knew his sister was trying to lose her virginity to a lowborn."

I twitched at the word but kept my mouth shut. Lowborn. Right. Because my lack of demon nobility apparently made me less of a person. I forced myself to stay calm, can't let this petty remark to invite more problems that I could handle. This wasn't the time to lose my temper, no matter how much I wanted to.

Rias stood, her eyes flashing with defiance. "Grayfia, don't disrespect him. He's a friend."

A friend? I almost laughed. We barely knew each other. Sure, we'd crossed paths a few times, but "friend" was pushing it. Still, I didn't voice the thought. No point in making things worse.

Grayfia's gaze shifted to me, and for a moment, I thought she was going to say something else. But then her eyes landed on the necklace I was wearing, Fuck. I forgot to take it away. Her expression changed, and she stepped closer, her movements deliberate.

Too close. She was in my space now, her face inches from mine. I could feel her breath on my skin as she reached out and grabbed the necklace, her fingers brushing against my chest. My heart pounded, but I refused to back down. I met her gaze, my own eyes narrowing.

"Where did you get this?" she demanded, her voice was now more serious than before.

I forced myself to stay calm and replied firmly, "A girl named Ophis gave it to me. She ate all my cakes a few days ago and left me with this. Said I had to feed it two cakes a day."

Grayfia's eyes narrowed. "You expect me to believe that? Do you know who Ophis is? the leader of the Khaos Brigade. If you're working with her—"

"I'm not," I interrupted, my voice firm. "She showed up, ate my food, and left. That's it."

Grayfia didn't look convinced. She tightened her grip on my wrist, her strength contrasting her slender frame. "You're coming with me to the Underworld for questioning. This isn't something that can be overlooked."

Rias stepped forward, her voice rising. "Grayfia, you can't just—"

"Enough, Rias," Grayfia raised her hand to stop Rias from continuing, "The Khaos Brigade is a threat to all of us. If he's involved somehow, we need to know."

I opened my mouth to argue, but before I could, a new voice cut through the room.

"Hands off, Old Mop"

We all turned. There, sitting on my study table with her legs swinging casually, was Ophis. Her small frame and blank expression made her look almost childlike, but the power radiating from her was anything but. She pointed a tiny finger at Grayfia, her voice calm but firm.

"He's mine."

The room fell silent. Even Grayfia seemed at a loss for words. I stared at Ophis, my mind racing. When did she get here?  Beneath the absurdity of the situation, I could feel the tension in the room spike. Grayfia's grip on my wrist loosened, and she took a step back, her eyes never leaving Ophis.
