Rose glanced at Roland briefly, pretending not to notice him staring at her with a frown, as if he were upset. She was entirely focused on herself—her own mood, everything that had happened to her.
The sound of the door clicking open caught their attention. Five police officers entered the ward, and Rose simply stared at them coldly. The officers greeted them before stepping forward toward Rose's bed.
"Ma'am, we need to get some details from you about what happened," one of the officers said, gesturing toward Rose.
She looked at him blankly, saying nothing. The officer hesitated, an awkward expression crossing his face. He didn't know what to say or how to proceed—the way Rose was looking at him, it was as if he were the one responsible for the accident in her office.
