Seraphina lay on the bed, cradled against the solid wall of Rhydian's chest, both of them still breathless, their bodies slick with sweat and flushed from the aftermath of what they'd just finished. Her cheek pressed against his skin, where his heart still thundered beneath the surface like a drum calling out a name—and she was certain it was hers.
Rhydian didn't let go.
His arms were wrapped tightly around her, one hand splayed against her bare back, the other stroking her hair with slow, languid movements. There was something reverent in the way he held her now—like she wasn't just a lover he had craved, but something fragile. Something precious.
His voice broke the silence, low and rasped against the crown of her head. "Are you okay?"
