Aurora was speechless. So speechless, that all she could do was gawk at Sera. But she wasn't alone. Edward and Tesarius had equal reactions like hers, which meant even Tesarius wasn't aware of this whole 'Empress Consort' thing.
"What's wrong?" Sera suddenly asked, her smile falling as if she was scared she said the wrong thing. "Do you not want to?"

"It is custom for the reigning Empress to host the Year End Festival Ball, that is you. I don't understand why I have to-"
"Because you missed it last year!" Sera was all the smiles again, beaming at Aurora as if it was the most normal thing ever.
