Chapter 10 - Sovarohm

As you emerge from the other side of the portal with Veronica in your arms and Mimi by your side, the first thing you see is a magnificent blue castle made of crystal towering into the sky before you. You appear to be standing in some kind of courtyard that's floating in the clouds, then you immediately notice something strange about the atmosphere of this place…

It feels almost as if you're in a dream.

You look around, confused as to where the Gods of Light are. There's nobody in sight and the only thing that's breaking the dead silence around the castle is a gentle breeze that rustles the trees in the courtyard around you.

The Gods said that they wanted to speak with me, right? Where are they? Why is nobody around?

You decide to walk up the stairs in front of the castle and as you stand before the crystal doors to the grand entrance, you feel compelled to go inside. The instant you turn around and place your upper back on one of the crystal doors to open it while holding Veronica in your arms, the doors shudder and swing open automatically. Staring into the castle, you're flabbergasted by the amount of doors and stairs that are in the main entrance and it feels like you're about to enter an endless maze.

" I hope we don't get lost… "

You say, stepping through the entrance with Mimi at your side before you both begin exploring the crystal corridors. You walk around the castle and ascend several staircases in what seems like a random path with Mimi following close behind you until you eventually approach a room with another pair of grand crystal doors and you can hear voices coming from the other side.

" This is outrageous, brother! I must stop Nahzgor's crusade and prevent him from obtaining Father's book! Thousands of innocent lives have been lost and if Nahzgor finds it before we do, it would threaten the very Omniverse itself! "

" And how would you propose we stop the God of Domination, Izael? It doesn't require omniscience to know that there's not a single army in this universe that could hope to stand a chance in battle against the Cult of Nahzgor. "

" The solution is simple! We must find the book first. Noeh, my brother, I may not be omniscient but you are. You can simply tell me where Sowzo is and I can confront him myself! "

" Aatu has already failed to summon the book and its wielder. This means that our father's book is above our universal powers. Much like Aatu's control over Time and Space, my omniscience is also limited to a universal scale. If Sowzo does indeed have the book, he could be using it to distort this universe and alter my knowledge on the book's whereabouts to send you off on a wild goose chase. "

" It's clear that the book is able to nullify our abilities since it possesses power that is beyond our universe. My control over time and space, Izael's control over fate, Noeh's omniscience, and Faerah's control over emotion are all unable to influence the wielder of the book, the book itself, and any other thing that's chosen by the wielder. Therefore we must also think about the possibility of Sowzo being framed by an unknown third party. Whoever has the book could be using it to throw us off their trail and pursue Sowzo instead of pursuing them. We need the mortal here because he is the only Omniversal being that's currently in our universe. "

" But do you really trust him, Aatu? What if he turns on us and uses the book against us? Do you not remember who he is and what he's done? To put power like that in the hands of a mortal is too risky in my opinion. Mortals are too easily corrupted. Just ask Noeh. As the father of humanity, he knows the true nature of his children more than anyone else and his word holds the most weight out of us all. He can tell you what humans do when you give them power. "

" I know the nature of everything more than anyone else, Izael. You also forget the mortal is more than just a mere human. "

" I trust him. He selflessly gave my blessing to a human child instead of taking it for himself in order to protect her from harm. The child would've almost certainly lost her life if the mortal hadn't done so, and he almost lost his own life as a consequence of this decision. "

" Father brought the mortal to our universe and gave him that book for a reason, Izael. It is because of who he is that means he must be the one to wield it. "

" Hold on a moment, Aatu. The mortal has arrived. Let us speak with him properly. "

You immediately realize that something is different about the way they're speaking. Their words can be heard clearly and they sound like normal people.

If these are the Gods, then why don't they sound the same as when they spoke before? Why aren't their words shrouded in godly symbols?

The grand crystal doors swing open and you're greeted by a man who you can tell is obviously Noeh based on the way he looks. You then take a look around the room and notice that all of the Gods look like normal people. Aatu is wearing a suit, Izael is wearing armor, Noeh is wearing a robe, and Faerah is wearing a dress; each God wearing them in their respective colors from when you saw them being born. Noeh, through his omniscience, reads your mind and answers the question out loud.

" It is because you're in Sovarohm, Realm of Izael. Sovarohm is an Immortal Realm, and thus all entities mortal and immortal can exist and communicate on the same wavelength as one another. When we manifest ourselves in a Mortal Realm, we must tune ourselves to a similar wavelength as you mortal beings in order for you to comprehend us and our words. "

The Gods' attention all turn to Veronica and Mimi. Veronica is still unconscious in your arms and you can feel Mimi hiding behind your legs in a shy demeanor. Faerah speaks to you in an approving tone with a surprised look on her face.

" You brought the woman and her child… "

" I need you to cure her curse. "

You tell them as you walk over to where the Gods are standing. Izael speaks in an assertive tone as he stares at you.

" The Curse of the Slave may only be cured by Nahzgor himself. That woman is as good as dead. "

You feel Mimi begin to shuffle behind you nervously and you can tell she's upset from hearing that. Noeh turns to Izael and responds.

" You are wrong, brother. Father's book could also potentially cure her curse as well. We've already discussed the power that the book possesses and if it can nullify our powers, it very well could nullify Nahzgor's curse. "

You speak up to the Gods standing around you with determination.

" Then we need to find the book before the curse consumes her. "

" We need to find the book before it falls into the hands of Nahzgor. "

Izael responds. You then look at Aatu who is staring off to the side as if he's deep in thought.

" Aatu. You're the God of Balance, right? Why don't you stop Nahzgor right now and end his crusade to obtain The Holy Omniverse Transcript in order to prevent all of this unneeded death and destruction? "

Aatu snaps his gaze to you and answers you calmly.

" I am the God of Balance, but I'm also the God of Perspective and Time. Nahzgor is perfect how our father created him and from his perspective, he could very well be fulfilling the purpose that our father gave him. If Nahzgor upsets the balance of this universe too much, then it is my duty to see that balance is restored. If my intervention is indeed required, then the time in which balance is restored is entirely up to my judgment as God of these domains. "

You turn to Izael.

" What about you, Izael? You're the God of Order and Justice. You have complete control over fate. Why can't you alter Nahzgor's fate to end his crusade? "

" If the option was available, I would've already done so. Nahzgor is my brother and therefore he is immune to my power. Our powers only give us control over the mortal realms. Since we are all immortals and are equal in power under Aatu, we cannot exercise our powers over one another. There are also certain exceptional mortals who can be given protection from every other God's power or influence via a blessing bestowed by one of us, like the blessing that you gave up to that human child standing behind you. "

The blessing that Faerah gave Mimi gives her immunity from the other Gods' powers and influence? Holy shit… That means Mimi is in control of the domains of each respective God for herself, and the only person who can influence her must be Faerah.

" That is correct, mortal. "

Noeh reads your thoughts and responds out loud once again.

" Because of Faerah's blessing, Mimi is currently one of the most powerful beings in this universe. However, it is important to note that the potency of each God's blessing becomes increasingly diluted for each mortal that has it. Nahzgor, for example, blesses every mortal that pledges their loyalty to him. Therefore the potency of his blessing is divided amongst every one of his followers. Faerah, on the other hand, blesses one mortal at a time and revokes her previous blessing when she chooses to bless a different mortal. Therefore the potency of her blessing will never be diluted and it will always be stronger or equal to the blessings of her siblings by comparison. "

So Faerah reserves her blessing for one person at a time, not for a selfish reason, but a selfless reason with the intent to ensure that they're safe and protected. How befitting for the Goddess of Love.

Izael interjects into the conversation.

" Enough talking. Let us get down to the matter at hand and why we have summoned you here, mortal. We need to find our father's book and you're the only being that's capable of doing so. "

" I'll help, but my main priority is saving Veronica and Mimi. "

You reply in a defensive tone. Faerah chimes in with an offer to put your mind at ease.

" Immortal Realms exist outside of the regular laws of existence and each God has complete and total power within their own respective realm. If you'd like, I could take Veronica and Mimi to my realm in order to protect them and delay the effects of Veronica's curse while you and my siblings focus on retrieving our father's book. "

Faerah says to you with a soft smile.

Mimi then has an outburst out of nowhere and hugs you as she shouts.

" No! Don't take me away from Star Faller! I wanna stay with him and help Mama get better too! "

Noeh leans down to Mimi's eye level and speaks to her in a fatherly tone.

" The adventure ahead is long and dangerous, little one. Although, since you do have Faerah's blessing, I'm sure you wouldn't have to worry too much about the danger. "

Noeh then turns to you and asks you a question.

" Well… it's up to you. Do you want to take Mimi along with us or do you think it'll be better if she stays with her mother? "

You look at Mimi and can tell from the look in her eyes that she's determined in her heart to help you. There's no way to know what's ahead, but you know for a fact that this little girl wants to fight for what's right more than anything and have a hand in curing her mother's curse.
