Caroline leaned back in her chair, grinning.
"You better watch out, Mandy. You know Aurora loves to steal other people's boyfriends."
Mandy rolled her eyes but smirked.
"Tch. If that airheaded snake dares to come between me and Zane, I'll kill her."
Caroline chuckled at Mandy's bold words, but Zane? He shuddered.
Taking a deep breath, he finally spoke. "That's not the real problem."
Mandy raised an eyebrow. "Then what is?"
Zane clenched his jaw.
"I… I tried to use it. Since she thought I saved her, I figured I could convince her to drop the whole thing. You know, let it go."
He hesitated, looking down at the floor. "But it didn't work."
Caroline's laughter died down. "Wait, what?"
Zane exhaled sharply.
"She disagreed." His voice was tense, as if he still couldn't believe it.
"Not only did she refuse to drop the matter, but she also told me to leave. Just like that."
Mandy's expression darkened. "She what?"
