The warm glow of the morning sun filtered through the massive glass windows of my office, casting golden streaks across the sleek black marble floor. I leaned back in my leather chair, eyes closed, my fingers lazily tapping against the armrest.
But my mind… it was elsewhere.
On her.
Morana.
A slow, almost lazy smile tugged at my lips as images of the night before flashed in my head—the way she had kissed me with fire and desperation, like she had forgotten how to breathe without me. The way her cheeks flushed when morning came, her body betraying her embarrassment despite the defiance in her eyes.
"You've grown so big, babydoll."
My fingers tightened slightly on the armrest. It had been years, but she was still mine.
A sharp knock on the door interrupted my thoughts, followed by the sound of the door swinging open without my permission. Only one person had the guts to do that.
